any guesses on the lines?
Smarty 8-5 ?
Interesting question as it seems that most of the people on this Board only want to talk about movies from thirty years ago, horses from thirty years ago, actors from thirty years ago, old news scandals, etc.
That tells me something, the grind of the Triple Crown is becoming too much for them. They are losing their focus and will be easy pickings come Saturday. LOL
I think your 8-5 line is about right. One thought I had, if you put white out over the age portion of Smarty\'s SHEET and put him in the Pimlico Special field doesn\'t he stack up pretty good.
Hasn\'t he run three straight numbers better than any of those horses.
Maybe Smarty would be 8-5 in that field also.
Just a thought....now back to the important business did anybody see Clockwork Orange, Affirmed back in his day, Racquel Welch back in her day......
I think smarty to place will pay 3.50 to 4.00 and is almost as sure to cash as a show ticket in a three horse race. :)
I bet offshore and the sportsbook I use is pretty good about pegging prices, as they allow the player to bet for or against a horse. For example, right now they are offer +160 on Smarty Jones (8-5) and -175 if you want to bet against him (horse must run to have action, so you don\'t lose on a scratch. It could give us an idea as to the odds. But anyway, here is what they are offering.
Smarty Jones 8-5
Lionheart 5-1
Rock Hard Ten 6-1
The Cliff\'s Edge 7.5 to 1
Imperialism 10 to 1
Eddington 12 to 1
Borrego 20 to 1
You can also get 9 to 2 on Smarty winning the triple crown.
Thanks,I love the cliffs edge at almost 8-1,wait until you see his stretch move on the dry stuff with all his shoes. ;)
We\'ll only know after the race why he was the derby morning line favorite.
After he wins the Preakness and the Belmont we will only wonder if only the derby hadn\'t been so damn sloppy we might have had another triple crowner.Give me the 8-1,probably be even money in the Belmont.
Gambino,
I agree. I like the cliff\'s edge. I am thinking about \"dutching\" the Cliff\'s Edge and Eddington. I know the \"new Preakness shooters\" typically don\'t fare well, but most of them over the years have been horses who weren\'t good enough to run in the Derby. Eddington and Rock HArd Ten were good enough, but just didn\'t get in. Besides, the jockey that last won the Preakness with a horse that didn\'t run in the DErby was Baily on Red Bullet.
You can more or less forget TCE. I had a feeling the strese of running minus 2 shoes would eventually take its toll. Looks like he won\'t make the gate on Saturday.
Good Luck,
Joe B.
