Title: Mohaymen
Post by: miff on January 31, 2016, 06:16:38 AM
Guess Mohaymen leads the VERY early pack with a nice Holy Bull win. Early indications is he paired his 2 yr old top ( app TG 2.5) Slow early pace, very fast late, met some adversity, ran off late.Mohaymen on the smaller side, have to watch if he can stand up to the physical demands leading up to the derby.

Except for Barbaro, no Holy Bull winner won derby.Very interesting year as no real fast ones on the radar so far and it\'s not that early to start seeing some forward moving route  TG 2\'s.

I was there yesterday saw him in the paddock, sure did not look like a 2.2 million colt. Guess looks are not everything.
Greenpointcruisader won on the looks contest.,
Mohaymen was vey impressive to me he looked like he was on a Valium in the paddock .
During the post parade the 1 ran of from the pony and he did not turn a hair..

At this point to pair a 2 is fine with me,especially as miff mentioned it was a slow first half and he was geared down at the end.

May be very interesting if Nyquist runs in the FL Derby..

Still waiting on Cherry Wine liked him in the allowance win..

Indeed not very big at all but he has one more important thing going for him. He is faster than the ones he is running against. And if he improves the others have more catching up to do. I like the fact they are going to keep on running him. Fountain of Youth. Either Fla Derby or Wood. American Pharoah proved last year if you have a good and healthy horse don\'t he afraid to run him....

He\'s still a bit young - May 2nd foal or some such.  I\'d say it was very fast late.  29.53 last 5/16ths.  Also like that he was in an awkward spot through the first turn and didn\'t seem to care.

Most impressive runner there might have been Cathryn Sophia.  2 tenths slowing than Awesome Banner, but only because of a really bad break, and running behind horses.  Closed a ton faster.  She\'s also a very slight horse, but looks quite the athlete - like Mohaymen.  Songbird won\'t have things all her own way.

As far as figs, these GP 3 year old heavy cards must be very difficult to do.  The TGs are better, but the Beyers for the Hutcheson day were slow.
