Title: can anyone remember
Post by: Flighted Iron on September 04, 2015, 02:37:38 PM
After Curlin wins the BC Classic, why the connections decided on four year old campaign?

 Re: AP\'s future

Finish the year with the Classic and plan a 5-6
Race schedule for next year. Having guts does not apply here. Nobody is letting it all ride. They are wealthy with or without AP. Sports need sportsmen/Sportswomen.

$10 million in Dubai.  Connections also wanted to try turf for a possible run in the Arc.

Jackson stated multiple times the importance of a horse proving itself over multiple campaigns, and wanted to prove that value in the breeding shed.

There is zero chance that AP is racing after the BC 2015.  The contract with Coolmore requires his retirement.  Coolmore\'s focus is the hundreds of millions it makes from the breeding shed.  We needed a Jess Jackson or Alan Paulson to own AP but that\'s not the way the cookie crumbled.

AP\'s breeding rights were sold months ago, so there\'s no \"plan a campaign for next year\". He has this year, then he\'s done.
