Big Thrill precocious daughter of precocious sire Big Drama and runaway winner of today\'s 5th race at SAR. A 5+1/2f sprint taken off the turf. Big Drama lost his 1st race albeit @6+1/2F most of which was on the lead before tiring and finishing 3rd before reeling of five straight wins.
Well his daughter Big Thrill broke tardily and then advanced from last to first by early stretch before just distancing what was a nice run by J.R. Star (Eskendereya) the Rudy Rodriquez entry.
The Graham Motion trainee Tizasong acted as the races money magnate to the bettors but seemed to have trouble going straight in the stretch not that it would have mattered against the top two finishers.
I found the race noteworthy on several counts.
The performance of the winner tabs her as one to watch going forward considering she was intended for the turf and ran with the late burst of a turf horse. She was also, I thought, very professional and given a good ride (sans start) by jockey Jose Ortiz.
Even though four horses scratched out of the race RR\'s filly J.R. Star\'s price drifted up from the 4/1 ml to 7/1 final odds and producing a $44/1 exacta. I guess that filly\'s slow works dissuaded bettors on the main track switch.
Maybe it was similar but in reverse workout logic that steered bettors to the Motion filly who may yet develop into something with some more schooling.
I\'ll be looking forward to the return of all three. Given that today\'s race was midweek and a change of surface maybe a future opportunity develops but to get 3/1 in the future would probably be against some other really good ones hmm but on turf ??
Big Thrill, big future, and not a TAP (yet)
