Title: 150,000 Fans to see American Pharoah in Breeders Cup Classic
Post by: Silver Charm on August 03, 2015, 06:34:09 AM
Ooooh wait its at Keeneland this year where there might be 15,000 fans who can actually see some semblance of the race. I know Keeneland will hype that there will be additional seating and upwards of 35,000 people will attend but one can only imagine what a mess the Paddock Bricks area will be like on that day.

Seriously bad timing to have a Triple Crown winner and a County Fair sized facility. The Bluebloods will respond he is ours, we created him and only we should get to see him. Considering the Keeneland facility is built slightly \"cupped\" even some of them with seats may not get to see him.

Only a location like Churchill Downs is suitable to accommodate the size of crowd who want to attend. And only a location like Santa Anita or maybe Belmont Park could accommodate the size of Celebrity crown that wants to attend.

I have wondered where a mile and a quarter race on the dirt starts out at the Keenland Racecourse.  Anyone know.

Top of the front stretch.

2:05.36 track record seems likely to fall.

Thanks very much.  I was concerned that the Classic would start on the turn.  Much appreciated.

I think every dirt record they have is likely to fall since it appears they set all new marks once the new dirt surface was put in for the fall of 2014 meet.

For a place where Alydar and Whirlaway among many others once ran to prep for the Derby it boggles the mind they drank the Kool-Aid and went to the synthetic rug. I wonder how many Trainers will ship in there and run in their Breeders Cup preps to get a race over the surface.

Maybe because handle went way up when the synth went in and plummeted when the dirt returned?
