Title: TAP on Belmont, Preakness weekend, and Derby weekend
Post by: Agastache on June 11, 2015, 09:44:23 AM
Somebody might double check me on this:

Pletcher on Belmont Day
Starters          Top     Pair     Off     X
    13-             3-       2-        5-      3

Pletcher on Preakness Weekend
Starters          Top     Pair     Off     X
    6-              1-       0-        4-      1
(The top was Commissioner and 1 of the \"offs\" was Stopchargingmaria, who won her stakes with a pair up of her previous effort)

Pletcher on Derby weekend
Starters          Top     Pair      Off     X
   14-              2-       4-         5-      3
(One of the tops is Angela Renee, who stopped coming down the stretch of the Oaks. The other is Curalina.)

TOTAL

Starters         Top      Pair      Off     X
   33-             6-        6-         14-     7
                  18%      18%       42%    21%

I did this fairly quickly, so I don\'t take responsibility for accuracy errors. Don\'t know what to make of these numbers, other than it appears that nearly 2/3 of TAP runners don\'t fire their shots on arguably 3 of racing\'s top weekends. That should be a concern for those owners that want to play at the top of the game.

Also, however, these numbers could be skewed by crazy tops earned in Florida this winter.

Compared to all his runners the tops about right but he\'s running more offs than pairs.

I agree it would definitely be a concern especially if TAP hadn\'t
won quite a few races over those three weekends, including at least
4 graded stakes that I can remember.

These numbers would be interesting if you back out TAP runners in the Triple
Crown races.

Trainer who can win races while his runners are not posting tops operating
pretty efficiently, no?

Smarty and AP both went TG negative in all 3 TC races. Anyone else ever do
this?

Nope. 2.5 in Derby.
