Jimmy C a man of his word, said he was staying out of the Belmont Stakes
conversations and so far he has.
At about 8 PM Saturday Eastern time Power Alert will go in the Evangeline Turf
Sprint or whatever its called.
An easy spot? PA will be deservedly carrying top weight, drew the hedge
(rail?) and is offered at a teasing ML of 2/1. An easy spot? My feeling is
that while track management will be rolling out the red carpet for Jimmy C and
his entourage, the local riding colony will be planning a welcome of their own
and will make the Leper work hard for the winners share of the 300K purse.
Hopefully Jimmy will take Michael Beychok up on his offer and Michael will
hook Jimmy C up with a whole mess a shrimp; if they offer you crawfish Jimmy,
you are on your own.
Hopefully Jimmy will leave his self imposed fortress of solitude and file a
full report from the \"Sportsman\'s Paradise\".
I was looking forward to showing Mr. Covello and crew how to pass a good time for sure but I believe Power Alert will scratch due to the massive amounts of rain we have gotten down in cajun country. No way the turf course is going to be anything near fast and there is a chance the race goes dirt we have gotten so much rain and more in the forecast.
Michael
Looks like he\'s not nominated to the Jaipur. I\'m guessing someone\'s not happy about that. Race is not coming up tough.
I\'ve begun to look at the noms for the Belmont card seminar, which I think will be the GI and II\'s, 8 races in all. Super interesting card from a TG point of view, almost all the races are under allowance conditions that make for some very interesting situations. TG players will look at this card a lot differently than conventional handicappers.
Power Alert rerouted to Jaipur
Power Alert, the morning-line favorite for the Evangeline Turf Sprint, will not run, trainer Brian Lynch said Wednesday. Lynch said rain at Evangeline and the forecast for more has led to a change in plans. Lynch said Power Alert now is being pointed for the Grade 3, $300,000 Jaipur Invitational on June 6 at Belmont Park.
Lynch said Power Alert does not handle soft turf. He said the horse was to ship Thursday from Keeneland to Belmont.

Sounds like nom came late in the mail.
hey all,
hope everyone is good
he\'s running in the Jaipur
really wanted to run in Cajun Country but its a bog down there and there\'s more rain the forecast and the horse hates the soft going
JB, they left him off the list of noms for some reason but he\'s nominated.
Should be a very fun day to be a part of.
no idea if he will handle the 6f and it may rain next week in NYC as well in which case we would scratch him again but that\'s the target race
Right spot, Ben\'s Cat is the competition if PS pairs up. On ours, I mean. I hear Jake gave him a 22. Another horse was wide, they gave him a 6.
I think Ben\'s Cat is running Saturday at Penn National as part of their big card.

Your seminar will include all Graded races, not just the Belmont?? That would be fantastic.
(If you guys are wondering what the hell I\'m doing up at this hour, got home from work a couple hours ago. Watching a replay of the game.)
It\'s going to be the GI and II\'s, there are a couple of other stakes I won\'t do, including the one Jim should win. The seminar will be a stand alone product, discussing the contenders (about 5 horses each race, all the horses in the Belmont), with the comments in writing as well. It will be a separate product from the sheets for the card, but you will get a discount if you take both.
Unlike with the Derby and BC there\'s a limited amount I can do pre-draw, even though the racing office has agreed to help us out with likely fields. So it probably will not be available until late Wednesday or Thursday.

Power Alert now targeting Jaipur
By Mike Welsch
ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Brian Lynch thought he'd found an easy spot for his turf-sprint specialist Power Alert in Saturday's $300,000 Evangeline Downs Turf Sprint. But the devastating weather that has plagued that part of the country this past week has forced Lynch to go to Plan B – next Saturday's Grade 3 Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park.
Lynch had originally turned down his invitation to the Jaipur to run for the same money in what figured to be an easier spot at Evangeline. That puts Power Alert on the reserve list for the Jaipur, although Lynch does not anticipate any problem getting into the starting lineup, with only eight or nine others likely to be entered for the six-furlong dash over the Widener turf. But Lynch will have to replace regular rider Julien Leparoux, who had taken the call on Ageless for trainer Arnaud Delacour, thinking Power Alert would not be running in the Jaipur.
"I didn't take the invitation because I thought we were a lead-pipe cinch in the race at Evangeline Downs," said Lynch. "But it looks like we're good to go. Unfortunately, Julien was already committed, so I've gotten John Velazquez to ride him instead."
Power Alert is coming off the best performance of his career, a three-quarter-length victory over Undrafted in the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs on May 1. The win was the third in four starts for Power Alert since joining Lynch's stable last winter in south Florida. Power Alert had been plagued by a bleeding problem in his native Australia but has had no such issues since coming to the U.S., where he can race on Lasix.
Jeez, Jim, I thought you had SOME input.
Trainers...
Excellent!
There will be a lot of coffee involved in this one.
But man, there are some interesting races. A LOT of the ones who ran on dead rails last time are nominated for those races.
Good luck to you
Coffee fine, no Kool Aid,please!
Funny. One of these days you\'re going to have to give a tight working definition of the term as it applies here. If it means any sheet theory, there will always be Kool Aid.
Pretty broad definition JB but there isn\'t a sheet theory that isn\'t more random than anything else, sometimes this way, sometimes that way.

Thanks JB, looking forward to that.
