Title: Rosario
Post by: FrankD. on May 23, 2015, 12:52:06 PM
No one has ever confused him with Jerry Bailey on the turf but todays Belmont 3rd race defied any sort of logic.

The horse ran the last 100 yards at a 45 degree angle towards the rail and he is continuing to smack him right handed all the way to the wire?

Days are coming for this ride.

His trip in the 5th may have been worse? Nah, but terrible!

I realize it is easy to criticize riders, but something is wrong with this guy.   If u have a few minutes, watch all his rides at belmont today.   He screwed the pooch on 4 of them.   (Not just the two mentioned, albeit they were the worst)

People don\'t just lose it that fast.

Gamblers aren\'t the only ones noticing.  He was removed on Tonalist this week.   Won\'t be the last big horse he loses.

U really have to think twice about betting him on horses.  He is still priced as a big time jockey on horses but running nowhere near that level

If you just looked at the stats, none of this would hold water.

 50-9-11-9  before today.

He placed well on a few today ridden without incident.

Are we sure this isn\'t circumstantial?

Boscar,

\"Ridden without incident\" He was moved from 2nd to 5th for his ride in the 3rd race and will certainly get days for his actions.

I have been critical of his grass rides from the minute he came to NY; speed balls on the engine he is fine. This guy gets lost constantly on the green.

How do you explain his Gulfstream meet this year?

He has seven mounts on Belmont\'s Sunday card, five of them are ML favorites...

He was a big concern for me Derby day as he stunk it up at Gulfstream this year..

Boscar,

I don\'t know if you are a semi-regular player or a student of the game.  But those that fall into the latter category and played Gulfstream this year know he isn\'t the same guy.   He ALWAYS had flaws (going wide), but used to be able to make up for it with aggression and strength.  no more.  He is wide or blocked race after race.  Hard to do that with the quality of mounts he gets (which is going to change)

Getting dumped on Tonalist is just the beginning.   Expect to see a steady downward spiral in quality of mounts and also expect him to have a brutal Saratoga meet.

Not saying there isn\'t an issue, saying he\'s 1/2 40% of the time, and how much higher would you like that # to be?

 60%?

I\'ll watch him more closely and see if I detect any ineptness.

Boscar,

Look at the positive; when is the last time you were considered young enough to be a student of anything:)

Great Ride?

Lost two lengths getting out of the gate.

Went widest of all.

Just got up to win.

On a horse that was 4/5 and should have won by open lengths.

Didn\'t get DQ\'d or hurt anyone. Yeah Great!

After watching JR for the last two days, I\'d have to describe his riding as , \'uninspired\'.

He\'s been on some difficult to ride horses, but I\'m not seeing where he\'s helping much.

Ride on Snacks, though getting a Sciacca home first is always a chore, was typical.

EDIT> Happy to have put Gary into the winners circle next race with that bash.

Will be interesting to see what kind of ride he gives King Kreesa....hate the jockey switch to him, but it is what it is.....should have the lead on the rail for most of the race.....others will need to carry more weight and go wide.....we will see.

First time off the claim from an uncharacteristically cold Move Up Michelle Nevin.

TAP just won his second on the day; an ancillary handicapping factor for the
Belmont Stakes... both TAP and KMac are red hot at Belmont, each enjoying a
strike rate near 40%.

... I\'m naive, Miff, I\'d rather believe that it is the superior horseflesh that
they are given to work with....

Nahhh...

Pletcher has told you why his horses don\'t do well from time to time.

It\'s the surface.  His horses love the current Belmont surface....

Lets See how Rosario handles the lewis diner, this horse like to bolt , he might like the wider turns at belmont
