Title: Question
Post by: BH on May 17, 2015, 01:58:58 PM
I just read that Baffert stated some of the jockeys weighed 135 pounds after the race due to the water.

Does this have an affect on time/numbers/handicapping ?

Even if it\'s true, how would you deal with it? How much of the race was he carrying how much extra weight?

If they all pick up roughly the same amount of weight it\'s a wash.

It is incredible to think of the horses carrying 135.  Never thought of that.  Weight is hard to figure.  I love that TG tries to assign a value to it and it is a consideration but like wind speed and ground loss you can only do the best you can and figure how to use the tool.  weight has little effect on some horses and more on others.  Does the horses weight and stride type make a difference?  Hard to tell.  But yesterday if they were carrying like 135 they had to be spent by the end.
