Despite his continuing Derby futility, TAP wins four graded stakes over the
weekend: Feathered, Protonico, Competitive Edge and Dame Dorothy.
Additionally, Jack Milton ran a very good race at a distance which is not his best.
I guess the cynical question is whether out of competition testing is
conducted on all stakes probables, not just Derby and Oaks probables. The
truth is I agree with others who say that TAP\'s talented horses are asked to
do too much too early (see Competitive Edge).
Others:
Private Zone is very tough when he gets the lead, and he always seems to get
the lead. Very talented and you have to be happy for owner/disabled jock Rene
Douglas. Don\'t know what happened to Bayern, but with Shared Belief out of
action and with Bayern off form, maybe its safe for Horse of the Half Year Cal
Chrome to come back stateside.
Promise Me Silver: Texas bred filly is now 8/8, won easily despite being
floated wide, look forward to seeing her in the Test Stakes.
Wondering if Lael Stable\'s (Barbaro) Divining Rod, who enjoyed a good
winter/spring as an under the radar 3YO, turns up in the entries for Preakness
or Belmont.
Divining rod was being pointed to Preakness. I think Delacour has said so himself he is aiming for Preakness.
I must admit tossing Private Zone due to drinking the \"super testing\" koolaid, and that decision cost me plenty in rolling pick3s.
