Carpe Diem\'s final pre-Derby work is also scheduled to be moved up one day, from Sunday to Saturday, April 25 in the early morning at Keeneland. John Velazquez, who has the mount, will arrive at Pletcher\'s Lexington barn at 5:30 a.m. ET.
Velazquez also has a ride for Pletcher in the last at CD on Saturday nite. Post time 11:10PM!!! These guys are some tough hombres....
It shows you just how much these guys love what they do.
C\'mon guys.
Its not like these guys make 15 bucks an hour. JV gets paid a LOT of money to ride horses. Working them out early, and racing late part of the gig.
There are lots of regular people that work much harder for much less.
Yeah relax, It\'s not like he\'s riding a horse for 18 hours.
Ride a horse or two in the morning, relax, workout, nap, get up for the races. Job hazards for sure, but not exactly doing a 12-hour shift of roofing labor.
Have to agree with the physical part of the job. It\'s the hazardous part of the job that is most impressive. Being maimed or even killed on a job would deter me from that line of work. Not to mention the 200lbs.
