Where can I find a house that will take futures on the winner of the 3 yr. old colt Eclipse award for 2004 ?
I think they all will, you just gotta talk to the right guy and flash enough money...lol
Be careful pg, I know you feel highly about Eddy and I would never try to talk someone out of a horse they felt high on. I know you like Eddy\'s race in the Wood. I do too. I\'ve watched the race many times now but the horse from that bunch at least that sticks out at me isn\'t Eddy. Its Tapit.
If you\'ve determined he\'s the best and the only horse to worry about is a horse that beat u half a length last and you got the whole season to overcome that go for it. If I\'m on a 30-1 horse and I figure theres only one to beat with him, I\'ll make that bet most every time.

Understood.
Seems like everyone has that opinion but me.
Kinda wish Henning was dumb enough to put him in the Derby trial. If he\'s in, he\'ll throw a bullet 5F 7 days before anyway. Might as well punch a Derby tickt while he\'s at it.
\"I\'ve watched the race many times now but the horse from that bunch at least that sticks out at me isn\'t Eddy. Its Tapit.\"
Chuckles: Tapit impressed me too, but he\'s really up against it in regards to the Derby. He\'s got two huge statistical obstacles to overcome: only four lifetime races and only two starts at age three. Soon enough, some wise guy will chime in, \"Yeah, but trends are meant to be broken. I bet you didn\'t bet a NY-bred gelding, either.\" (I did, but that\'s another story.) The stats aren\'t just numbers; they\'re a way to quantify a horse\'s experience and foundation. Tapit is lacking both. Many a good horse has tried to win the Derby with only four lifetime starts -- Indian Charlie, Medaglia, Congaree, etc. Likewise, many have tried with only two starts at age three -- Best Pal, Lemon Drop Kid, Point Given. I\'ve said it before and I\'ll say it again: fit horses, not fresh horses, win the Derby. If Tapit can overcome his inexperience and lack of racing foundation, he\'s truly an exceptional animal. On May 1st, I\'ll be betting with history and playing against him with both fists (as far as the win slot is concerned).
Just my take. Good luck.
Agreed,
the only thing that bothers me is I swear Tapit was playing
Hmmmmmmm.
Didn\'t they say that last year about Empire Maker in the Wood ?
everybody is saying that about eddy this year (i think bailey used those exact words describing his wood stretch run). strange, eddy has the same look as EM (just henning instead of frankel, the difference between running in the derby, and staying home). i was going to take 19-1 on him in the last pool, but saw the odds drift down at the end, and stayed out...... tapit jogged with a strong wind at his back for a good part of the wood, then sprinted a strong 3/8. i agree, photo, i don\'t think the horse has the foundation to run at a decent pace for a mile or so, then explode in the last quarter. i could very well be wrong. like CtC, i am still undecided about pulpit as a sire, and dickinson has pulled off much greater upsets in the past, just too many question marks still for me.
Well, speaking of the Derby Trial, supposedly Rock Hard Ten might run there, but not as a way of getting the earnings to get into the Derby. He will only run, said his trainer, if he is assured of not getting in. He would be using the Derby Trial simply as a prep race for the Preakness, with no intention whatsoever of running him back 7 days hence.
So it might not come up the soft spot we all think.
Now, having said that, I doubt they\'ll do that with RHT.
And I too have a not insubstantial amount invested in a certain good looking Hennig colt. Ahhhhh....one little neck...how very annoying.
And what the hell is with Sinister G being pointed to the big show. Come on...this horse was destroyed in the Wood and will be, probably, 100+:1 on derby day, surely he\'ll be the longest shot on the board...why are they running him and screwing us over?????
grrr...
Whatcha crying about? Screwing who around?
This might be the closest ol\' man Toscano and the family will ever get to a Derby runner. Just to be there is a thrill of a lifetime for most trainers/owners aaaannd most importantly: they earned their way in!
Churchill Downs didn\'t suddenly announce the rules yesterday.
Bitch at Hennig for wasting opportunities to pile up Graded stakes dough while \"experimenting\" with Eddy and Dave Flores for the complete bonehead ride on RHT 4w around the whole damn track.
Peace!

Agreed. It\'s all about the dream.
