Title: Stabs -- Present and Future
Post by: richiebee on February 07, 2015, 02:34:56 PM
In what is being billed as a match race betwen Shared Belief and
Horse of the (Half) Year Cal Chrome, I am looking at Clubhouse Ride and his
intriguing preparation for this event -- two downhill races, two bullet works. He
has raced nine times on the SA main with five second place finishes. Maybe he
splits the top two here.

In the Derby Future, I took a small position on the oxymoronically named Great
War, trained by Fairmount\'s favorite conditioner. Currently listed at 40/1, GW
should be 3 times that price given the fact that he has not yet won on dirt and
has no qualifying points.

I actually do like Wesley Ward as a trainer.  But only in sprints.

I\'ve never seen him as a superior route trainer.  He is much improved with the Ramsey stock in some route turf races.  His win that day at Keeneland still has me upset though (haha)

Now if you had said TAP was my \"favorite conditioner\" in that vein I wouldn\'t dispute........

Has anyone watched DRF Live\'s video today.  Good supplement to have on one of my screens in LRD.

Thanks for the public post to follow the next few months richiebee.

The Great War.  Last and bled at Turfway this evening.

On a brighter note, Pletcher was able to win at 9-1 for Winstar by 5 lengths.  How on earth does any Pletcher 3yo in any Derby type prep even if just The John B. Memorial go off at 9-1?

I had no money in the race.  Just reporting the facts and asking a question.  I understand if everyone believes the question is rhetorical in nature.

Looks like \"The Great Ward\'s\" best chance for a Derby Day win will be Judy the
Beauty in the Humana Distaff.

TGW bled through the diuretic and now we know perhaps the main motivation for
sending him stateside.

Yes, TAP will be remembered as the greatest Derby prep trainer of all time...
