Title: Pre-entries
Post by: TGJB on April 13, 2004, 10:22:18 AM
Relax, fellas, you\'re working yourselves into a state with all this guessing. HP, you\'re a nervous wreck. Your wife called me, she\'s worried.

Pre-entries will be available on line next week after I do the Lexington numbers. Until then, try not to hurt yourselves.

P.S.-- Haven\'t done any figures for those preps yet (today), but I doubt the Beyers are right. I played golf that day in half a hurricane (and on one hour sleep, they don\'t make scorecards big enough for this one), my guess is the fast sprint times at Aqu were due to a big tailwind out of the chute, which would cause big one/two turn relationship problems for those figure makers who don\'t use wind.

Also, Jerry can we put Chuckles on that 37 posts a day quota you and I discussed.

I think I\'m the only one that posted that did NOT ask for numbers. HP

the sa derby #\'s look to be the wild card figs. i think most have a pretty good grip on the east coast horses. how fast did they run out west? RHT, castledale, and imperialism are all bred to run for miles. RHT\'s pedigree is pretty straight forward, distance on top of very classy speed, perfect to get the job done. the pedigree\'s of the other two are a bit more hidden however. castle has plenty of dirt blood in him (secretariat and alydar, not too bad). he also has some of the best distance blood you can get in europe. there is no reason why he can\'t come flying at the end of the derby if all the speed that is currently signed up runs. i was just looking at imperial\'s pedigree, and it screams distance as well. langfur did his best at 7f to 1m, but imperial\'s dam side is filled with long winded influences.... i urge all to take new looks at those horses, assuming the figs for the sa derby come up competitive (remember, some decent horses got completely dusted in that race, with no apparent excuses).

Does anyone have information on Rock running in the Lexington to get his earnings up.  He\'s one of the few who deserve to be in but won\'t because of all these billygoats in horse outfits that ran one good race at 2 and now can\'t get out of there own way,
such as Action This Day, Birdstone, and Minister Eric.  Funny, two of these space eaters belong to the great Mandella.
Fortunately for me, the DQ left RHT 5K behind Eddington, unless he does something crazy.

no, they are just waiting with RHT. minister eric runs in an allowance this week. there are some pretty clear \"no\'s\" on that top 20 earning list. could be that Edd and RHT get in, and one or two get in behind them. can they be serious about running saratoga county, or st averil?

I\'m pretty sure Saratoga County is a no.  St. Averil has feet problems and is hopefully out.  Castledare has also reportedly lost weight and is now not a definite.
Let\'s hope for another hanging, mediocre performance from Minister Eric, because win lose or draw on Weds., he doesn\'t belong.
Pomeroy worries me.  I can see him running well and getting tossed on the mix.
I assume Song of the Sword ( 2nd in Illinois ) is going.
Was it me, or did the broadcast teams from this weekends telecast seem to take great pleasure in announcing, more than twice, that Eddington would not get in now ?

Please HP what you did was worse you gave opinions on numbers. Comments about previous tops, ground loss, etc. Don\'t try and take the high road on this one because you can\'t.

Jerry did I fail to mention the 87 edited posts a day quota for Chuckles.

TGJB release the numbers now I can\'t take it anymore. Next week is way too long to have to wait.

TGJB...

The National Weather Service observation for JFK Airport at 5 PM Saturday is a sustained wind from the south at 20 mph.

Silver Charm,

What is your problem? Giving opinions is worse than begging Jerry for numbers? Have it your way. You\'re a good one to talk about Chuckles cluttering up the board. HP

TGJB--

We need the Litfins and Beyers of the world to find out which Derby horses we need not worry about.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

I,m sorry HP and the same to you Chuckles. I\'m just on total edge right now. I can\'t get these crazy thoughts out of my mind.

What if Tapit only ran a 3 then is he fast enough, but if ran 0 then did he run too fast??? How about TCE is he primed to bounce like a beachball???

Look at the hours of my posts, I\'m up all night (where is Ronda Shear when you need her).

Forgive me

Silver,

I sympathize and I have done this myself and I can tell you one thing flat out -- this whipping yourself into a frenzy three weeks ahead of time is the surest way to lose.

Want to win the Derby? Put it out of your mind. When they do the draw, get the sheets and make a decision. It\'s just another race. Relax. HP

When my father won his first Derby in 1994, he looked at me and shouted \"I WON THE DERBY\"...lol

Its not just another race. Dad sounded like he owned a damn horse...its the ULTIMATE handicapping test. This year, maybe the best test ever.

I hit my very first derby last year, And I got it pretty good, cashing the win, ex, tri, and super.
I wagered online and watched it on TV.  My wife thought I went crazy as I ran through the house pumping my fist, diving on our bed in elation.
It wasn\'t so much the score, because i\'ve had bigger days.  But just the fact, I HAD JUST WON THE DERBY.
Man, I love this game!

The Beyer figures haven\'t been too shabby the last two years, so I\'m not sure what you mean by that.  At $43 and $26, you don\'t have to be right too often.

BeyerGuy:

I\'m not referring to his numbers, I\'m referring to his selections.

Here\'s a prediction for this year...the top Beyer #, THE CLIFF\'S EDGE (Bluegrass =111) and READ THE FOOTNOTES (FOY= 113) won\'t be on the board.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

If you bet the Beyers last year, you certainly didn\'t come up with Funny Cide. Unless you took the 2nd best Beyer. I can\'t remember now...did Ten Most Wanted have a better Beyer fig?

I seem to recall War Emblems Ill. Derby was a good Beyer fig, but was it fastest coming in?
Title: Re: Pre-entries

Ten Most Wanted did not have the a better Beyer, it was the same 110.  In fairness, the difference between FCs 110 and EMs 111 is meaningless.  One was 5-2, one was 12-1.

War Emblem did have the top number.

I agree with you on the selections, he always seems to out think himself.
