Title: Dirt Mile
Post by: jp702006 on October 27, 2014, 08:21:09 PM
I have been studying the pre entries for the last few days. I am really liking Tapiture as a single. Is this a case of wishful thinking and I should just go with the captain obvious horse, Goldenscents?

JP:

Like Tapiture. Could he be like Tapizar, an Asmussen runner who won this race
coming out of two turn races? Post 9 could be a problem, but as one of the 2 3YOs
in the field, he will get 3 pounds.

(The other 3YO is Vicars in Trouble, whose 3 lifetime wins have all come in the
State of Louisiana. Just sayin...).

Hard to toss Horse for Course Goldencents, who won this race oh so easily last
year. He breaks from the rail and if you fancy him you have to hope the track is
playing fairly, even though he has the tactical speed to outbreak this bunch and
get to a favorable slice of the racing surface. Worked very well over the
weekend.

My other use in the horizontals might be Carve, who gets Mike Smith and improved
as a 4YO going from Asmussen to Brad Cox.

My opinion is that Pants on Fire will bounce in this race, much as he did last
year.
