Title: Dead Rail
Post by: horsegoer on October 17, 2014, 06:05:20 PM
If a horse has an otherwise good pattern than runs an off race on a dead rail would you toss that race? In the past have dead rails produced off races on the thoros

Here is one view of your predicament as I understand it. IMHO, I doubt if a dead rail would cost more than a point or two.

However, if the horse has a need to lead running style and the dead rail results in an inability to keep pace through the second fraction then the result is likely a non effort many points off what was expected.

No, that\'s completely wrong. We don\'t give out \"X\'s\" unless it\'s very clear that horses on the rail as a group are running very poorly, not a point or two. Some of them might, but as a group they are not.
