Thought the best part of the article was that in or out, Jim was staying home to enjoy Halloween with his kids....Now that\'s a class act!

Thanks for the thoughts.

I know a bunch of other guys who are really into the game (including one who played in the BC tourney last year) that are skipping this year because of Halloween.

It wouldn\'t be that hard for the BC board to just change the date for next year so it isn\'t on Halloween again.

Here\'s hoping!

I also would spend Halloween with my kids if I had a BC starter.....they would be with me at Santa Anita.

That might work once but not twice.  I had my six year old daughter on a plane to the 2012 BCBC in her Halloween costume in tears because she couldn\'t go out with her friends.  My wife looked at me and said this will never happen again. With that said, my daughter had a blast at Santa Anita.

Next time take her friends.

love these stories

won\'t wind up being an issue though for us as we made the decision yesterday to stay in New York and run in the Bold Ruler on Oct 25th and if that goes well, try the Cigar Mile

Horse breezed great yesterday (same exact breeze as before he ran the second 3 negative at Saratoga) but I left it up to Terranova and he really wanted to try and take down the stake in NY

I wasn\'t sure about the two turns and I ordered up the TGs for all of the possible runners and there were a few in there that were fast enough to make it a close enough call in my mind that staying in NY was the smarter play

Valid and Goldencents in particular really stood out to me on the TGs when I ordered them from JB.  I liked Valid\'s prep race alot last weekend. He\'s a big, beautiful horse who has thrown some monster figures and who overcame a bad trip and bad race shape to win with plenty left against some ok hard knockers last weekend.

like for any of them, duplicating the big figures in a different state with different rules and after a tough ship is always a question but between Goldencents and Valid, that wasn\'t a guessing game that I wanted to play given the supplement issue and the question on two turns.

looking forward to the 25th.  I will post again after his final breeze to let everyone know if he\'s good to go for the 25th

Baffert a little on the fence with running Bayern in the mile instead of the Classic. That will be a major change to the mile, if Bayern goes there.Peter Miller deciding to run one dimensional speed, Big Cassanova, in the Classic may also have something to do with where Bayern goes.

Baffy a \"funny\" guy, gets pissed when someone enters a hopeless longshot that will screw up one his horses running style....seriously!

Jim:

Nice win at Parx yesterday, guess it cant hurt that Chad Brown is now something like 17 for 20 on the year @ Bensalem...

Thanks Richie!  That was a nice run from him.  We really wanted to run him in the allowance at Belmont but they didn\'t use the race that was in the book so we sent him \"down south\"  Worst part was I was really busy at work yesterday so I couldn\'t get down there to enjoy the craps tables after the colt\'s big run

He ran an 86 beyer so I\'m anxious to see what JB gives him.

We would love to run him in a NW2x but I think he will be 4 years old before NYRA writes one of those again so I guess we have to look for a little stake for him somewhere (which is something I would rather not do just yet).

Miff,

whoa, I hadn\'t heard that

that would have been a a total game changer for me if we were still pointing there as I think Bayern is a total freak at middle distances

maybe Terranova got some sense of that (he and Baffert are very close) and just didn\'t want to say anything about that because Bob asked him not to (no idea but that would make sense as to why Johnny really wants to run in NY)

it would make sense if Baffert went in that direction as the horse would be even money for a million bucks if he runs in the dirt mile vs. maybe 7 or 8 to 1 in the classic at a distance that I don\'t think he really wants against good horses

it\'s one thing if he gets everything his own way going 1 1/8 buth the projected race shape of the classic, he will be gasping for air at the 1/8th pole

wonderful horse, I hope they run him in the mile

Hi Jim,

Baffert, hear tell, was not pleased when Miller decided to enter Big Cassanova.Bayern having to outrun Moreno early was one thing(Moreno breaks badly on occasion) but adding Big Cass to the equation is another story.

Bayern worked huge 58 change, so guess Baffy has a tough decision, also has Fed Biz slated for the mile.Agree with you about distance, but IF Bayern got loose in the Classic he could get there, any pressure would see him off the board imo too.

Took a quick look at your nice winner at Parx(was waiting for him off vicious pace he chased in Sar SP)if JB agrees with Beyer, its in the TG 7 range a little better than his previous best which looks to have been in the TG 8 range.Seems like an ok sort so far.

Good Luck,
Mike
