Anybody have a reason he ran such a stinker last race?
Maybe the possibility that he is really a turf horse that the owners got caught up in Derby fever this spring? He ran well in the Derby and followed that up with a nice run at Belmont. However, some turf horses run well at Churchill. I think they rolled the dice one race to many. He is bred to be a turf horse, so the performance at Monmouth is not shocking.
I have no inside information.
But I have contended from the Belmont Stakes that it wiped out those that contended in the race.
Remember that KY Downs is a very deep course. Like many golf courses it\'s easy to get suck in the rough. Medal Count is a play against.
