Title: Saturday Seminar
Post by: FrankD. on August 24, 2014, 04:25:42 AM
46,000 people and a just miss on a 40 million dollar handle made for just another Saturday of getting crushed at the windows. All you need to know about my day is a posted pick 4 play using 10 horses in the sequence after scratches and NOOOOOO
winners. OUCHIE!!!

TGAB gave out Bayerd in the 4TH @ $19.00 & the gift exacta of Divided Attention & Shayjolie in the 7TH whose price was chopped in half with 2 gate scratches. A tough day for all at the windows, long lines, you know its crowded when the mens room has 30-40 in line, not a patch of green or brown to walk in in the back yard as every inch was covered.

It will be a very interesting figure day for sure! Rosario wasn\'t going to let Bayern get loose nor Maragh who got taken out for a hot dog on the first turn. Defintely a track a bit on the dull side making the pressured first 6 furlongs of the race an insane contested pace as they staggered home in a 51.66 last half mile.

The Kings Bishop looks like the whole field bounced other than Fast Anna while
Artemis Agrotera in the Ballerina was impressive as the slower distaff 7 furlong heat was a bit faster than the boys in the Kings Bishop.

Steve Byk, Bill and I blocked off the deck and covered it with tables on Friday afternoon keeping the lunatics away for the day. It was our own nice comfortable spot on a crazy day. MathCapper, Just Win, Rezlegal, and a few others wandered in and out throughout the day as not too many T-generates braved the Travers day crowd. The comfort of living room downs would have been the prudent move but what the heck it was Travers Day and the scenery was muy bueno to say the least!

I\'m vowing to have a good day next Saturday but won\'t complain after all per TGJB I got even for life the other day!!!

Good luck,

Frank D.

Handicapping is a lifetime learning experience if approached with an objectivity and the purpose of red boarding yesterdays Travers is a perfect example. I have aways believed that the best way to make money on betting developing 3 year olds is to not be afraid to bet horses who are slower going in but have patterns suggesting they will move forward. Recognizing that moving forward does not necessarily mean moving forward enough, you are often well rewarded when correct. When I stopped by at the deck I thought the bomb that fell into that category was Charge now.He had run a 3 1/2 second out a GP and after 2 small backward moves (off poorly in both) ran a 3 in his previous race. He figured to like the distance and a breakthrough to a new top at big odds made him a play for me. I missed-totally-te obvious pattern on VE Day--never bounced-worked his way down to a 3-first time on dry dirt track-and had run a visually impressive race in the Curling. If I was betting Charge Now to move forward why on the world would I not bet VEDay to do the same. All the criticism of the rides given by the Tonalist and wicked strong--stuff happens like that all the time in long distance grade 1 races-yesterday was a good handicapping lesson. Best of luck to all for rest of meet.

Frank, the only reason I even thought about going on Saturday was the knowledge that you and Bill and Steve et al would be providing a haven amidst the mayhem. But it was so nice a day, I knew the crowds would be INSANE! (As crazy Eddie used to say), so I passed. I\'ll be there tomorrow with \"Mrs. Night\" (we have seats) and will stop by the deck to say hello to whoever may be around.
