Title: Commissioner - Were you there?
Post by: joekay on June 08, 2014, 01:26:46 PM
Almost impossible to move around and make your bets as the day wore on at the track. The track was carrying speed all day.  After the post parade, when Commissioner took off like a shot, I thought OMG, he\'s going to go for the lead!  I had no time to leave my seat and make it to the windows or the SAMS.  I only had him on one of my tickets, in second in a tri with CC on top and MC (my main key for the race ) for third.  Great to be there, but if I was at my usual spot ay the Med, that $6000 tri would have been nice.  Anybody else catch his warmup?

Doc, with 100,000 people there and lousy connections to begin with, there was no wi-fi to be had.

I\'ll be writing about my \"Guest Experience\" tomorrow, but - in the meantime - here\'s a modest riff on the guy who put the \"dumb ass\" in DAP.

As always, thanks JB.

The little OTB that I have to use unless I drive for over 2 hours, had the following problems. 1 teller for cashing and betting till sometime after 1:00pm then they added a second teller. a waiting line to bet all the races not just the Belmont of about 20 minutes. As the Belmont approached with about an hour till the gate opened, the line was a good 75 to 100 people waiting to bet, cash tickets etc. etc. with about 2 minutes till the gate opened the line was down to about 5 people in line but with a small room the place was packed with people wanting to watch the Belmont. I have already made plans to watch and wager on the Derby next year at an OTB many hours away but I think it will be worth the drive and overnight stay.

Tommy,
Get an account at xpressbet. I opened one 9 months ago and it is extremely convenient. I still go out to my home track a couple of times a year, but for the most part I just wager online and watch the races on hrtv in my mancave.

Maybe a application using a smart phone could have been used.  That\'s why I gave up the big days, too crowded, not enough tellers that know what their doing and I am getting toooo old!

Nicely played, BB.  What we saw was that, for most, fifteen minutes of fame should suffice.

Sounds like Coburn has finally sobered up and is now doing his apology tour rounds.

I think that and probably Art gave him a bit of a perspective. Coburn owns 30% of CC, a horse who was produced by a mare that cost $10,000 of which Coburn owns 30%. CC is his only race horse and the mare is his only broodmare. So, he owns 30% of 1 race horse albeit a very good one. And, with all of those credentials he demands to re-write the rules of horse racing. I don\'t think so. Good he is apologizing. Pretty embarrassing.

Thank you, I checked it out and it will not help me.  I live in Oklahoma and they won\'t let me join. So I will have to drive 2 hours to OKC(Remington Park)or 2 hours to Tulsa(Fair Meadows) or 3 hours to Claremore (Will Rogers Downs) Probable use the little OTB in Newkirk till the Big races in the fall, Breeders Cup and definitely going somewhere else for the Derby next May! would have loved to be able to give you a referral but cant join xpress bet.

You may live in a state that does not allow any form of online wagering. Try checking out twinspires or tvg to see if you are allowed to wager there. If you have a friend or relative that lives in a state that allows online wagering maybe you could ask them if you could use there home address when signing up. I live in Iowa and we have only been able to wager online for 2 years. If I were you I would make the drive to Remington Park on the big days. My home track is Prairie Meadows. It is only 5 minutes away.

you know I do have a brother who lives in Missouri and he does owe me a favor!   lol just might have to do that. I like Remington big spacious and usually plenty of tellers just might have to drive down the next time. I know TVG wont let me for the same reasons I previously mentioned but just may have to check into the other one. Thanks

Twinspires will accept my Oklahoma address, now just need to sign up and put some money in the account and I am all set. If Twinspires has a bonus for referrals let me know and I will tell them you referred me. Thanks!

Good for you! I only have a xpressbet account, but thanks for the thought. Now you can sit back with your favorite cocktail and enjoy some racing with no crowds or traffic!
