- While few horses seem to run tops in the Derby, quite a few have gotten it done in the Belmont: Sarava, Birdstone, Jazil, Rags to Riches, Da\' Tara, Summer Bird, Drosselmeyer, Shackleford, Palace Malice. Those are just the winners. Some were only one point tops. Some were considerably more. Not what I would have expected with three year olds in a mile and a half race.
- We talk about the absence of triple crown winners, but some horses have run all three races with very competitive numbers. Maybe Smarty made an ill-timed move. Real Quiet\'s nose was right there at the wire, and the horse whose nose got their first was pretty darn good. Afleet Alex might liked a Derby trip do over. Curlin showed up each race. Lots of things have to go right to win all three, but that doesn\'t mean horses haven\'t run well in all three.
I feel like there\'s a real good chance that CC will run his race. What I find impossible to predict is whether another horse will run out of his shoes as others have done before him, and if so, which one it will be.
Shackleford?
