Title: $3 to place
Post by: fjmb on May 18, 2014, 06:47:09 AM
California Chrome paid $3 to place yesterday.  Probably the easiest money of the day.

As a gambler I am wrong more often then I would like to admit but seeing someone post that $3 to place on CC was the easiest money of the day on this site just turns my stomach, lol. I may be allot of things but one thing I am not and never have been is a chalk loving weasel. Not to mention if I were I sure wouldn\'t come on a site like this with so many \"REAL\" players and admit it. Good luck to all...

I think his point was $3 to place was a remarkable payoff on a 1/2 shot. That said, if you\'d told me that before the race, I still wouldn\'t have played it.

That payoff indicates to me that the professionals
who usually squeeze all the value out of the place
pool more or less took a pass on Cal Chrome.

Exactly my point.  On big days you always get more than deserved because of novice bets.

Lots of prices are \"easy\" after the tote board lights up.

Well they\'d be a lot easier before the tote board lights up if they showed the pool totals like they used to.

The price you have to pay is not worth it. The price meaning the mental belief that \"easy money\" exists...the person who is the \"easy money\" chaser gets burned sooner or later because the idea that free money is available is so strong, that the handicapper who believes this looks extra hard for low hanging fruit and when you\'re looking for low hanging fruit, you\'re bound to find it more often than you should.
