Title: Very Interesting
Post by: TGJB on March 15, 2004, 10:35:13 AM
Just read Frankel\'s comments about why Sightseek \"liked\" the GP track. Forget about whether you believe that\'s why she ran better-- I\'m talking about his comment in T Times that GP is \"a real dirt track without much sand in it\".

As I said above, GP is unusual in that it seems to get slower with  the addition of water. The biggest difference between most tracks now and 20 years ago, according to NYRA track supt. Jerry Porcelli, is the higher sand content that allows them to dry faster than the old mostly clay tracks. The sand tracks tend to get faster when wet (up to a point, anyway)-- think walking nearer the water at the beach. Clay tends to get sticky, and takes a long time to dry.

TGJB--

Terrific post; at mimimum it gives Frankel an alibi.

I posted here over a month ago that SIGHTSEEK would miraculously recover her form once Frankel got her out of Santa Anita.....ditto for PEACE RULES. Believe me, I\'m no genius. Mr. Frankel is getting easy to figure out. Perhaps he utilizes a different vet in the east.

Aside Note: I just figured out who FRIENDS LAKE reminds me of.....drum roll please.....
BULL IN THE HEATHER.

Good Luck,
Joe B.
