Title: Bayern
Post by: jbelfior on April 27, 2014, 06:32:26 AM
Thankfully we can finally drop him from the \"who can win the Derby\" conversations. Arkansas horses are an average bunch.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Yes, that was a shockingly bad performance to me.  thought this horse might be special.  He certainly is not.

Showed some heart by digging in and winning the photo before being DQ\'ed, but if a top horse, he isn\'t supposed to need to win a photo against those horses last night.  Tough ride by Rosie.  She can certainly ride.  Cordero would have been proud of that ride.  I guess I am in the minority based on what I read in saying that I wasn\'t as sure the horse should have been DQ\'ed.  Classic example of \"herding\" late in the stretch, but \"herding\" isn\'t always called.  Usually you need a solid bump to get DQ\'ed.  (not saying it was a bad DQ, just thought it was a tougher call than many others seem to think)

Jumbo.

I agree with you on DQ.

Wasn\'t gonna matter to me as I had a straight 1/10 exacta so didnt cost me money but what I was surprised about is not alot of discussion about how the 6 came over and bumpped bayern several times at the top of stretch

Again, Im fun with outcome but I have seen horses come down for the stuff at the top of the stretch as well.

Jim

Yes, seemed to me the incident at the top of the stretch was clearly the 6\'s fault.

Tough game.  Needed the 1 for 3rd leg of pick-4.  Had three logicals and one longshot in the last.  Of course, once the DQ happened, I knew the longshot was gonna win the last.  Tough game.  (Have to say that twice)

Amazing how many derby horses are not training well this year.  A bunch of middling works today.

Chalk up another one in the \"world beater in So. Cal, human away from the west\" category.  CC Next?

Yeah, same problem as yesterday with the workouts.  Intense Holiday apparently the \"work of the day\", but was it truly an AAA-5star workout?  Or just the best of an extremely MEH bunch of works?

Haven\'t seen many races in recent years where a horse wins on the bob after moving the second place finisher four or five paths wider, and not come down.  Maybe in Europe.  Right or wrong, it shouldn\'t be a surprise.

That is a reach tread.

We have covered this ground.  CC trouncing horses like Hoppertunity, under a hand ride.  Hoppertunity will be 3rd choice.

Bayern beat that wacko Baffert horse whose name I forget, tap it rich?

Liking Bayern was \"betting on the come\" thinking he was a star in the making.  I was wrong about him. He is common.

Chrome already a star.  Proven.

Just needs to take his race/talent on the road with him and get a reasonable trip.   (The road is a question as u point out)
