Title: Divine Oath
Post by: ajkreider on April 03, 2014, 05:04:14 AM
Was wondering if anyone has thoughts on Divine Oath.  Looks like the connections are targeting the Blue Grass.  Like Constitution, lightly raced (2 this year) - but has beaten some decent horses - Ring Weekend and Big Bazinga on their preferred surface (turf).

Works haven\'t looked great, but they\'ve been steady all spring.  With the turf background, I think they\'ve been thinking poly all along.  And, currently 150-1 for the Derby at Wynn.

think very good shot in Blue Grass, no shot for Derby

there\'s alot of fast dirt horses for this Derby as it stands now

only way some crazy longball wins the Derby is if we have a total pace meltdown and I think that\'s unlikely

when everyone is aware of a potential pace meltdown (like this year when there\'s already been 30 articles written about the potential derby pace), the jocks all react accordingly and the pace is fast but not insane

its when it doesn\'t look like there\'s alot of pace on paper that the pace is insane because multiple jocks/connections decide to try and steal the race (like last year)

Jim,

Agree, except the last sentence.

I think smith just gave a stupid ride on Palace Malice last year.  Not sure we can blame it on \"multiple jocks\".

(I haven\'t been reprimanded by my friend P-Dub in awhile, so figured I would post this.....  - although I do remember he may have agreed that it was a pretty poor ride)

Jim

Don\'t quite remember Jimbo.  I may have commented that the blinkers on didn\'t help slow him down.
