Title: Aqueduct
Post by: FrankD. on March 30, 2014, 05:47:44 PM
Monday\'s card; ONLY 8 races with 48 betting interests.

I go back to the mid 70\'s and cannot remember NYRA scheduling only 8 races ever?

This weekend was painful to watch. No , matter how much money they give away, they can\'t fill the box.

Frank this is what happens when the firm of Rice Jacobson and Rodriquez only
enters 6 horses. And since as you know when it comes to NYRA I am a glass half
full guy, let me point out that there is only 1 maiden race on the entire card.

NYRA needs handle $ and in spite of huge purses cannot fill entry box. Horse shortage hitting it\'s peak until 2016, NY racing not the only venue affected.
NYRA refuses to close during winter insisting they need winter handle to ensure big purses for Belmont and SPA meets.

If Racing Authorities cave to PETA loons and hay oats water crowd, look for more boutique type race meets across the game. If horses are somewhat restricted from getting \"legit\" meds, entry box in more serious trouble than even now.

Not to mention after scratches, we end up with 3 (4 horse) fields.

Also a round of applause goes out to NYRA management, this weekend for those of us brave enough to come out to the BigA for the Wood, a Wood Memorial cap giveaway, BUT make sure you read the fine print.... a \"Full Size\" Post Parade
program purchase is required in order to receive the cap.  Thanks CK, customer service at its best!
