I do not know anything about this trainer, David Cannizzo, but Non Stop,
entered in tomorrow\'s fourth at AQ, has an interesting sheet. This does not
mean that I think he can defeat faster rivals Saturday in the Tom Fool.
Cannizzo claimed NS from Alan Goldberg, who we can probably all agree is an
accomplished turf trainer. The best TG # NS ran on the turf for Goldberg, in
10 starts, was a TG 52.
Cannizzo claimed this 6YO for 16K in June of 2013. After a couple of fair
dirt tries at the same level, NS returned to the turf on October 5 at
Belmont, where he won a 7 furlong dash by 7 lengths, TG # 13, a
rather significant new lifetime best. Things took another good turn when Non
Stop took a liking to the squared circle and has maintained his form over the
inner course.
In tne third race Cannizzo has 20/1 Sam Sparkle breaking from the rail
against the 3/5 ML undefeated Mott runner. Interesting here that Cannizzo
claimed Sam Sparkle from Gary Contessa at a time when Sam was regressing
rather disturbingly. Given nearly 6 weeks rest after the claim Sam equaled a
lifetime best, a number he hadn\'t run in more than a year and a half.
Not saying anything nerfarious happening here, especially with Non Stop, who
might be thriving in a racetrack atmosphere as opposed to the bucolic Colts
Neck Farm, where Alan Goldberg\'s string resides and trains.
So continued good fortune Mr Cannizzo. I will be keeping an eye on you, at
least while action in my favorite winter sport, the Downhill (Turf Course),
is temporarily suspended due to rainy conditions.

Congrats to trainer David Cannizzo, who won 2 races on Saturday\'s card and according to TV is getting married today

It\'s all in the timing.
I love how the talking head tells us about the nuptials AFTER the second win.
Or, should I now chime in that before going out on his own, David was Bruce Levine\'s Assistant Trainer.
Thanks for that Ollie.
Earthbound assistant or rider?
Earthbound Assistant, Richie
Too bad there isn\'t a Family Tree on Equibase showing where trainers come from.
Another great idea posted for free.
It could be done in Biblical terms:
... and it came to pass that Lukas begat Pletcher and K Mac and Dallas Stewart and Mike Maker, and that Van Berg begat Mott and Catalano and Frankie Brothers...
You\'re forgetting the illustrious George Weaver, and the winning trainer of Saratoga\'s last race yesterday, under the aforementioned Lucas.
He was at Belmont/Aqu as assistant. Tom Williams was here(Saratoga) for Bruce from April thru Oct the past 5 yrs
