Nice obit for a great player and an entertaining announcer. Not a Mets fan but always liked him. Not alone there, no doubt.

Lifelong Mets fan since the day they started. Loved Ralph and Kiner\'s Korner. Because of his stature, he would get all the top players to come on. My all-time favorite was Roberto Clemente, who was widely disparaged in the media, but was always warm and talkative when he was on with Ralph. They had the Pirate connection and they played the game at a level few would understand so Clemente was more talkative with him than even with his home-town media types. Ralph did a great job on the games and brought a lot of class to the broadcasts that, sometimes, the Mets did not deserve.
\"Statistics are like bikinis. They show a lot, but not everything.\"
\"_____ has a great wife. If there is such a thing as a great wife.\"
In a game where the Mets had a ton of LOB--
Kiner: \"The Mets have left more men than Elizabeth Taylor.\"
McCarver: \"That\'s just the husbands.\"
The Jamie Lee Curtis story is pretty funny.
The only Mets games that didn\'t have a ton of LOB; Koufax or Gibson was pitching.
I loved Ralph\'s deadpan delivery. He reminded me of comedian Jackie Vernon.
