Title: Gulfstream Park Saturday pik 5
Post by: shanahan on January 25, 2014, 05:56:41 AM
Race 7) singling the Pletcher, # 3

Race 8) spreading in this one.  tight windows between pairs and possible tops.  Using 7,6,9,3,5 in that order.  If I get knowcked out, congrats to the #8.

Race 9)  Expecting Chad Brown\'s #12 to get after it in a big way to get a new top, and using 7,9 as well.  These 3 TR all tossing new tops last 90 days.  All good to big odds.

Race 10)  Like JV\'s return to the saddle on #1.  Last time he returned from injury it took him a while to get going, but I think he\'s too mature and experienced to mull that too long.   using 4,11 as well.  If I get beat, it\'s the 2,7,or 8.  But the 4,11 TR are tossing new tops, and are well bred 3YO to go the distance.

Race 11)  OK, conspiracy lovers!  Cibelli has the #3 - co-fastest, new tops...same as the #10, using both. If I\'m still alive, and get beat here, congrats to the #4.

50 cent pik 5 = 1x5x3x3x2 = $45.,  Good luck all.

Some bad racing at AQ, having no luck at Insanity Anita, so will try GP for
the first time this season.

In the 6th, the McPeek runner is faster than those who have run, has already
tried the demanding one mile chute route twice, and gets Rosario for Cruz.
3/1 ML not inconceivable given the presence of firsters from TAP and Eddie
Plesa.

For some spice in the same race, Big Guy Ian (20/1 ML) had an eventful first
out voyage. Being by Birdstone, would imagine the added distance will only
help this $375K 2YO in training purchase.

Also in this race: Fearthefalcon, NYB second time starter, goes first time for
Tampa Bay Downs renegade Jorge Navarro. Navarro had a 35% strike rate in
2013, is currently winning at a 41% rate at the Gulf, and wins 39% of the
time with new acquisitions. Not familiar with the jockey, but he rarely loses
when riding for Navarro (small sample).

Good luck to all players, NHC or otherwise.

6th race GP

I consider Dutrow\'s horse \"Decisive Edge\" worth a second look. He fits into that lucrative 2nd start group where the 1st start is not representative of ability if odds stay at or float up from m/l 10:1.

He was well backed (2.5:1) in his first albeit @ Laurel. He blew all chance when stumbling at the start in the race but ended up almost catching all but the runaway winner Fire Starter.

Fire Starter is also an enigma and seems to get into more than his fair share of trouble. However Hobby did think enough of him to start in the Smarty Jones where he had an eventful trip.

The Decisive Edge 3rd best work at the distance (4F) on the 20th could be a good sign they\'re schooling him to get into the race early, he\'s shown he can run late.

Or he may always be a slug, hoping he goes to 15/1.

In the 9th, Barclay has Miz Lee ready and tabs Rosario to bring her home.

boy, that\'s a tough one to take.  Tagg\'s 1st timer stats not great, but you do have to respect that Rosario takes the mount.  I\'m not biting this time.  good luck.

drbillym,

Miz Lee best horse in race, jump at start cost several lengths. Nice call, bad luck.

I have had the best horse at Gulfstream in at least 4 races over the last 2 weekends  without cashing. Whether its a bad jump at the start, horse falling in front of Allaboutcaroline last week and having to go around and just missing or getting shut off on the first turn and not getting the reversal on an objection.

Thats racing. I\'m waiting for the law of averages to turn my way.
