Title: Allow me to ask the question pointedly....
Post by: catcapper on June 08, 2013, 12:49:49 PM
Ok, I\'ll ask it... Did Bob Baffert just win two races on the Belmont undercard with two horses that just ran off and just shipped in less than a handful of days ago?  In case no one acknowledges that, let me respond. Yes he did!!!  Are they that gooooood????

This a national showcase of racing. These horses should be ON THE GROUNDS at least, what two weeks at least, prior to any racing on this day. And under surveillance and subject to out of competition testing and as should ALL horses and ALL of any veterinary interactions, etc. logged. And putting an \"apparatus or therapy\" device on private property should not be allowed as a loophole. I have seen it happen on a top circuit here in New York. Ok, my email is published here, come on.

I have read Ecclesiastes and the IChing times and times again enough to know that taking such an angry stance (frustrated?), may ultimately not be the best. However, HorseRacing has become a drug-sport. Yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe the oldtimers  had a few tricks up their sleeves too, but what I just witnessed smells so very bad to me. These horses just shipped in days ago!!! One from California where the juice runs wild And one from KY??? did he stop in between????  I know I should rise above it, but I grew up LOVING this animal and LOVING this sport. Who here amongst us should feel the shame? Anyone? And don\'t tell me I should just go with because they were cranked to roll.

Maybe there were other recent ship-ins??? Uh, yesterday maybe????  Gee that was so pretty, I hate to point a finger there, but it is only RATIONAL to do ask the \"Oh-so-recent-ship_in\" question in light of all we have come to see.

So NYRA, your upcoming \"open forum\", will you allow these questions to be asked. I don\'t really care about what my options for feeding myself at the track will be, one food truck, fifty food trucks...I DON\"T CARE, and I con\'t appreciate your attempt to dumb down the experience and distract me from the real issues facing horseacing today. If it is an true open forum for the public, you don\'t need an agenda. And get a big enough space so you don\'t have to turn hundreds away by denying them invitations because you don\'t have room enough.

I have, until now, had no need to get so involved in the question of dirty racing. There are those far already far more engaged and up to date on it than I. I am grateful for their tenacity, to say the least. But, I had to say something now.

My email is published here. Show me your vet records.

Agreed - neither of those horses was a surprise by any means.  Not sure what the point here is.

Of course!..And anyone looking to make money in that moment would of course bet them...forgive me...I am not crying sour grapes....just rotten grapes. Power Broker was still jumping out of his skin when he came back....Same trainer, same owner...
like I said, it\'s a pointy question...what is your point...that because they were favorites they ran clean?  they were THAT good?  Isn\'t this the same tainer that had six horse drop dead and CHRB patted him on the head and said, \"Don\'t worry Mr. Trainer, we know you didn\'t do anything wrong\". I don\'t know that and the circumstantial facts warrant a deeper review.

SHOW US YOUR VET RECORDS!!!

Until then, \'ouch!\' to the pointy questions.

Someone else take a go now. I have done my part.

NYRA, let us ask THESE questions. I don\'t care what BF is cooking today tomorrow or yesterday...I WANT TO SEE THE DRUG TESTING PROTOCOLS, RESULTS, AND ALL VETERINARY RECORDS FOR ALL HORSES ON THE GRUNDS.

It is not too much to ask

I think a better question concerning Fast Bullet/Baffert is this:

Didn\'t he run in the BC Sprint where there was out of competition testing?  And he finished 1.5 lengths behind Justin Phillip that day and didn\'t even make the front.  Of course, (Sarcasm here), Fast Bullet has had so much more seasoning and race experience since the BC to improve....oh no, wait, he only had one race after the BC Sprint where he won by 7 1/4 and hasn\'t run since then? Oh, okay, now it all makes sense....or does it?

Remind me how ALL of Baffert\'s horses did on BC day???

I don\'t disagree that there is an issue with drugs in horse racing but using those two races as an example of anything is a very weak argument.

Guys, I am not going to beat a horse dead over this, BUT, if you agree there is an issue with drugs in horse racing, how do you know?  We don\'t see vet records. So how do you know? By reading opinions and articles online and following the general consensus (herd)? I mean, do you think for yourself or do you wait to see what the big dogs say?

What are your examples that racing has a drug problem, since you agree that it does.  I think these are most very possibly examples. Believe me, I know it is a half ton of flesh and blood with a hundred pounds of flesh and blood guiding it around an oval at speeds and stresses unnatural to the animal. I take aspirin etc for aches and pains, I understand that. An athlete must be developed an cared for, I know first hand. These horse shipped in less than a handful of days ago and ran like wildfire on this track when CA tracks are bone rattlin\' hard. Please, tell me what you know.  Power Broker also took on six pounds for today\'s race.

By the way, how did \"Trainer in Question\" do on his home tracks for the BC? That was a good question...but at this point, I still prefer to be pointy about it.

SHOW US THE VET RECORDS

It was never my intention to discuss drugs in racing as I feel others do it so much better. But I know this animal and I know this sport and I am not  fool.

Cat - I\'m not sure where you are going with this or whether you actually looked at the figs for the races in question.  Power Broker ran a two in his last race which if he could repeat would likely be enough to win the race.  I have no idea if Baffert \"cheats\"or not or whether this horse was given something I\'m simply saying that using this particular race as proof of anything is silly.  It looks like he ran back to his last figure - no magic there.

Thank you for a decent response.

No, I didn\'t spring for the TG figs. So what? They aren\'t always the be all end all.Especially on off-tracks. I have made far more money from TG figs than I have spent on them, so don\'t get me wrong.  The horse shipped in and ran out of his skin. It was too easy twice over....Come on you guys, come on New York, you\'re supposed to be getting so tough on this crap.  SHOW US THE VET RECORDS ESPECIALLY ON SHIP-INS!

No more from me on this. I do look forward to hearing about the NYRA \"open forum\". I am out of town, but will try to register, good luck to me.
