Title: Ruler on Ice
Post by: covelj70 on June 06, 2013, 10:10:13 AM
Seems like alot of what I am saying here this week is more controversial than I am really intending it to be.

In the words of the late, great Rodney Dangerfield in the movie Back to School, \"I\'m a lover not a fighter\" so let\'s see if I can throw something out there that we can build some consensus around

How about going with Ruler on Ice for the first half of the Brooklyn/Belmont double

I feel like we HAVE to use a few horses in the Belmont to have any shot given how wide open that is and I don\'t feel like it makes sense to spread both races so I am planning on taking a shot with Ruler on Ice in the first leg of this thing

Has a pattern that suggests he\'s coming back to a big effort and he\'s won at this distance, on this track, in the slop before. Right Jock and he\'s 8-1 morning line

seems like that\'s worth a shot with maybe Overanalyze, Palice Malice and Orb in a 1x3 Brooklyn/Belmont double

thoughts?

I totally agree on Ruler on Ice, although we\'re not on the same wavelength on the Belmont.  Between now & Belmont day I\'m only playing 1 race-The Brooklyn.  I\'m putting a win bet on Ruler On Ice, then playing DDs in this order: 5 units with Orb, 2.5 units with Incognito, 1 unit with Freedom Child, Unlimited Budget & Oxbow.

I seriously believe that the Peter Pan was treated simply as a Belmont prep race for Incognito and unless the Derby version of Orb shows up, Incognito can win this. If the Derby Orb shows up, they\'re all running for 2nd place. Unlimited Budget could be the speed of speeds & if there is a speed bias, she can win. The other 2 had fast wins last out & if they pair are dangerous.

If I can pick Incognito, how can I possibly argue against Overanalyze or Palace Malice?  If Orb doesn\'t run it\'s anyone\'s race & if Orb runs his race we\'re both cashing if we\'re right on Ruler on Ice.

Flashy Sunrise getting weight from all but one is a little interesting.He\'s competitive off his last couple with most of these, and the faster ones don\'t have to run back to their tops.

Never gone past nine furlongs,Flashy Bull over Came Home looks like nine furlongs at best, but at the very bottom of the pedigree is where he might get the stamina.

Mac Diarmida(12 and 13f horse),Morning Bob(3rd in Swales Belmont-2nd at 13f\'s),and Good Morning Smile(hit the board 2x at 12f\'s)

Complete guess but at 20-1 ML I\'ll go fishing.

I still like Golden Soul in the Belmont even with the post.
Counting on a quick pace to string the field out and hoping his pedigree can kick in late.

Big,I\'m waiting for Golden Soul to pop first time turf. Sire a G1 winner and second dam Lady In Silver was a G1 winner in France and second in Arlington Million as a 3yo filly. Hoping Canadian owner Fipke tries him at Woodbine on poly in Queens Plate in July,Woodbine Mile on turf in Sept or Canadians Intl on turf in Oct.

Absolutely Hooper and maybe why he ran so well over the Churchill dirt.So many turf types take to the dirt there.

I\'d feel better if he\'d worked over the Belmont surface for some clues on how he\'ll handle it.

ROI is a definite use for me. the only other one is Keep Me Informed. out of AP Indy he should like the distance and ran the same weight adjusted # as ROI in his last race.
