Congrats to him today. He takes his share of shots but pushes on. He has been up/down rich/broke more times than you have fingers to count with. But this is the action he lives for. Still gets on his riding horse and goes to the Track every morning, runs his own house, almost lost a son in this game and still keeps digging.
14 Triple Crown winners is not bad for a guy who told me once he gave up on an assistants coachng job offer from Johnny Orr at Michigan to go train horses in the bushes in Montana and Idaho to get in the game. Slept in the bed of the damn thing several nights when he pulled the trailer in late.
I didnt have a dime on the Preakness and was rooting for Orb and his people until 200 yards were left and it was obvious. This was a good team and story that won today. You dont always have to gamble to still love this game....
Absolute congrats to D Wayne..I hate his campaign style but the plan of attack he put together with Gary was a masterpiece yesterday..
