Title: One for Vito
Post by: TGJB on May 18, 2013, 03:30:01 PM
Good call.

I played a lot of tris and supers-- none of which included Oxbow-- and one exacta box, 5-9.

Good Job, Vito....I managed to be alive in horizontals into 4 non-Orb horses in the Preakness and still did not hit it.  Oy Vey.  Classic....correctly throw out the 3-5 shot and still end up empty handed.

TGJB, did any of your tris and supers hit?

No. If Oxbow doesn\'t run I take home the place.

Velazquez\'s ride was way too lax, otherwise he wins.  He waited way too long, IMO, and when he went it was too late.

We need a new batch of young jockeys, Castellano and Velazquez have to go.

If there is a \"jockey sheets\" equivalent to \"Thoro Quick\", you can call it
\"Jockey Shorts\".

I think the \"older\" jockeys in the field ran 1-2..I don\'t think there is anything wrong with them.

Alot of tag team race riding in that race from the Lukas contingent..Titletown five expected to go to the lead and i\'m sure Krigger thought he would be stalking that one knowing Titletown won\'t go the distance..I think Lukas knew that too so he told the jock on Titletown to take back and sends Oxbow to the front..Krigger is now stalking a horse that can get the distance but lets him go out on his own up front becuase he was told to stalk..meanwhile when Orb tried to make his run up the inside on the backstretch the jock on titletown five immediately pushes his horse up too to block him from taking the inside route...Rosario has to take back losing momentum and the race was done from there for him..Now you expect Johnny V to catch a loose on the lead Oxbow?  They could have went around the track again and IMLD wasn\'t passing him..I wish he could have but when the gate opened and I saw Oxbow jump out......I muttered to myself under my breath becuase I have little kids..Oh F###..

My last $.02 on this race, and to the applause of many I shall depart for awhile.

But IMHO, DWayne, regardless of what one\'s overall opinion of him might be, is a supreme race strategizer, at least when it comes to the big races.

He knew exactly what he had and the only way he could win with it. And when enough other factors fell his way that the opportunity was there, they were ready and they took it. Oxbow won the only way he could have. DWayne is Master is that regard.

Looking forward to the Belmont. Not off Orb yet.

Just wanted to jump on the Vito bandwagon.  Didn\'t feel the bounce would come here but I guess it\'s back to the drawing board.
