Title: Question for anyone at TG
Post by: kev on January 03, 2004, 07:57:44 AM

At the Fair Grounds today in race 9, being on the turf. The way I have always looked at turf lines is that I will pay no mind to the dirt figs. Well FREEFOURINTERNET has rasied some question\'s for me, three races back he made that 1/2 break threw number good sign and then backed up 3/4 of a pt another good sign, but he runs in a dirt race last out and ran a 1.3, my question is how would you guys read that or his line overall??? SKATE AWAY in the same race has something like that also, CLASSIC PAR is another in the same race.

I agree with your inclination. I mean you have to evaluate turf lines for turf races. Now the three horses you mention happen to be pretty good on both surfaces, but this is on the green so use their turf figures to assess their performance levels.

But you can\'t dismiss dirt efforts when evaluating current condition. Freefourinternet enters off a dirt top and Classic Par essentially paired a dirt top. These performances affect their condition entering today\'s race.

I was so close in posting my thoughts on this race and I wish I had, I bet Skate Away and I just threw his last two dirt races out and capped only the turf number\'s. Sad thing is i\'m mostly just a win and place type of guy, and I like the 2nd and 3rd place horses, and didnt play the EX. Oh Well. I said to myself I\'m going to start keeping records of all my bets starting this year, great way to start it off. I did pick this horse in the publichandicapper.com contest, on their web site, I go under the name of toocool505 over their. Thanks again TG for the great number\'s.

It says I\'ve only hit 1 out of 9 races, and a profit of 2.80, but they haven\'t updated it yet. Should be 2 out of 10, profit of somewhere around 32.00ish. Oh well.

well done lately kev......... i always separate turf and dirt races. do you also look at firm and yielding turf races differently? i have noticed billy mott often talks about his horses running better on firm turf (including today at GP).

Yes I will treat them diff. also, or I should say throw them out. Maybe it\'s just me, but I seem to find that say a horse will run a top and comes back on a off track they tend to pair up that number. I could be and most likely is wrong, but I try not to even play when there is a off track.
