Title: Churchill weather
Post by: FrankD. on April 30, 2013, 02:31:24 AM
Too bad they are not running the Oaks & Derby today and tomorrow. 80\'s, clear and sunny; it looks like its cooler and 50/50 for at least some showers on both Friday and Saturday.

Today, tomorrow & Thursday should give us a better barometer to dead rail/dead track conditions as there is no excuse not to have a fast and fair strip through Thursday.

It\'s unimaginable that a venue that is the center of the racing universe for a week a year can continually have so many track condition issues. Of course with 2 days of national TV coverage by \" the experts\" it\'s 1/5 that this discussion will never occur.

Good luck and get those water trucks out track crew!!!!!

Need to cut the track crew some slack, it can\'t be easy predicting how much water mother nature is going to provide on rainy days.  If they don\'t put enough in, you get the dry, sandy conditions we had last Saturday.  If they put plenty in, and then it rains a ton on top of that, they will also look stupid, and they will be racing in Elmer\'s glue like the Mine That Bird derby.

Completely agreed on today, however, there is no excuse for not getting the moisture content right under these perfect conditions.  That said, I don\'t think today will give us any indication as to what Saturday will be like, because with rain in the forecast it becomes a crew guessing game again and who knows what their guess and results will be.
