Haven\'t seen enough yet for me to say this is my derby horse, of course all based without the final tg numbers of each horse. Verrazanno too short of a price, if he wins, I tip my hat and move on but I won\'t play the 4-1 fave in a 20 horse field with possible distance limitations.
Many of the derby prep winners have needed big breathers in their races like a 25 quarter. Would like to see a horse click off consistent 24 quarters and finish in 12 for the final eight like IHA last year.
Ark derby has some nice under the radar horses that may provide value on derby day. Oxbow has some nice TG numbers, Java\'s Pass had a huge run to close in the TB derby, at 1 1/4 he could be the right horse at a big price but the one I am most interested in is War Academy.
I\'m looking for something goofy given all of the preps so far.
Maybe a poly to dirt move up coming out of the Bluegrass.
Horse like Uncaptured jumped in last years Iroquis first time dirt and showed an explosive run off the turn.
This year he won\'t step onto a dirt surface if he makes the Derby until the week of.Trained on synthetic at Ocala, raced at Turfway and now training at Keeneland for the Bluegrass.Maybe they reproduce that jumpup from last year.
Groping for sure but after yesterday why not?
