Title: New Trainer Stat Product
Post by: JR on November 28, 2003, 10:12:41 AM
This is a nice new tool I have been wanting for some time. I am also happy to hear that it is stiil a work in progress because one category that I think is missing is first race after trainer change. Who are the real move up trainers?

JB:

New trainer stat product is very insightful.  Another great job by George.

A couple of comments:

1)  Add an average category so we can compare a trainer\'s stats in a particular category to those for all trainers.  Along those lines can we bold / italicize those %s much better and/or much worse than the averages?

2)  Add a category for track or circuit specific stats.  Be interesting to see where certain trainers are more or less likely to get the big jump-ups.

3)  Trainer / Jockey combo stats would be useful, though they might not be meaningful in some instances as the samples would be quite small.

4)  Try to make the stats as surface specific as possible (eg. if we\'re looking at a Mott 3YO turfer it would be best to show only his 3YO turf stats as opposed to all 3YOs)

Again, a great job,  as useful as I hoped they would be.

The new trainer stats were not really finished, but we wanted to get them out for the last big weekend of the year. By next week lots more categories should be in the studies (about twice as many), and the ones that are 50% higher or lower than average in a category will be boldfaced or italicized, same as with the other trainer stats.

TGJB,

IMO, this product really separates you from the pack. I\'m not especially skilled at finding value using trainer information, but this has got to be helpful even to me. I have a few friends that are not speed figure oriented. They are almost entirely geared towards finding value using trainer information. I\'m going to point the product out to them. I\'m sure they\'ll be interested. Since it\'s a topic they have been studying for awhile, they might have a suggestion or two about categories that can make it even better.
