Title: Question for TGJB
Post by: Box on December 17, 2012, 11:16:53 AM
I am a new user and had a question regarding Seeker\'s number pattern { NY race 7 yesterday }.

His first two races as a two year old were very fast, his second race resulted in a top that ultimately set him back. After a limited three year old campaign his last race number \"paired \" his best number from last year subsequent to his top.

My read yesterday was that this could possible be a recovery pattern. Performance aside would you agree with my interpretation going into the race?

Would appreciate any comments.

This is a tricky one. Considerations-- a) unsound horses (and this is definitely one) run well fresh, so coming back second off a layoff is not necessarily a plus, but b) he\'s still 5 points off his top, so that last may or may not have been an effort.

I would have had a hard time playing him to get back to his top unless I got a BIG price (like 20-1), but in a race where a 5 made him a strong contender I could have taken him at 6-8 to 1. And the next figure should tell us something about where he\'s at-- a backward move now would be very bad.

As the great Maynard G. Krebbs used to say, \"Work work work work work...\".
