Title: What with Doug O'Neill?
Post by: Dana666 on October 09, 2012, 09:20:07 AM
His horses seem to be falling down again. He\'s like 1-28 at the current meet (something like that) and the one who won looked like a monster in a maiden race. Many of his runners are favorites, so do you just draw a line through anything he sends out even if the horse fits on the sheets? Why the sudden decline?

Trying to stay under the radar maybe. The one thing you cant say about a 1 for 28 trainer is he\'s cheating.

What concerns me as a handicapper is how do I evaluate the horses past numbers in the light of the current situation? His horses aren\'t running second, they\'re falling down.Is he not doing something that he used to do? Increased testing? Or is it just stats that will even out?

Dana,

O\'Neill runs hot and cold streaks quite often. One can say his barn is raced out/cycled out at present. For the conspiratorial minded, he\'s racing cold to deflect attention from his usual use of illegal drugs(they just cant find them)

Only thing you can do with a cold barn is pass until they heat up.

Let someone else figure out the first winner.
