Don\'t want to take over Richie B\'s role of being \"top dog\" amongst the disgruntled players, but today\'s performances by some of the \"best\" horses we have were pretty awful.
So many horses in the big races didn\'t even fire a remotely competitive race. Tapitsfly, Book Review, Trinniberg, Currency Swap, Gun Boat, Nonios, Neck and Neck, Street Life, etc.etc
Not just that they got beat but didn\'t run at all. Many trained by Hall of Famers.
We really just saw can of shit Willy Beamin win the Kings Bishop? Followed by nx1 eligible Golden Ticket win the Travers?
This was our \"best\" on display.
What a string of lousy performances.
Know what you mean jimbo. With his pattern coming in (to say nothing of the number power and the perfect amount of rest) I would not have thought it possible for Trinni to finish where he did today.
Trainers McLaughlin & McPeek, jockeys Dominguez & Cohen were all class in the Travers today. I watched the NBC broadcast & the sportsmanship they showed did the sport proud.
Agreed and look for Jockey David Cohen to gain a lot confidence from this Win today. Expect to see him try his tack at few different circuits where the purses are high and there are some solid Stakes races riding for new and different outfits. Maybe today changes some of this a little but I doubt it. Probably enhances the desire. The desire to step his game up. Confidence!!
Agree that there were many no factor/non efforts on Travers day.
On the other hand Alpha established himself as, if nothing else, a sound and
consistent 3YO, who would, in this non voter\'s opinion, be 3YO HOY if he manages a
graded stakes win versus his elders.
Congrats to K Mac on the Bama/ Travers double
