Title: Saturday
Post by: FrankD. on July 21, 2012, 05:12:17 AM
A beautiful day ahead, 82 degrees, low humidity and an attendance bounce from opening day maybe.

Just over 25k yesterday but I swear Steve Byk and I counted closer to 30, it seemed more crowded than the number. Maybe 18-20 today but you never know when the weather is sooooo nice.

I\'m definitely looking forward to the first Saturday seminar and the new BBQ pot roast sandwich on the Carolina menu. Sorry Richiebee I\'m lobbying for you but the curry goat is still a no go.

1st race:
Why is the locally bred Ms Pompay putting Zero Rate Policy in this tough spot for his turf debut at 4? He\'s firing bullets at the shore, bred for green and could sit the garden spot behind the dueling Great Mills & Bridgetown at a price.

The 6th has the Mott money burner on the outside going a 1 1/16th on the inner at 8/5 and the Stall horse who was hammered at the windows for a 6 wide tour of the Churchill course in his last who gets Rosario ( wider than wide Mike) today at 2/1. Kris Royal is regally bred for the lawn, Lopresti good 2nd out and he and Leparoux work well together. The unraced dam has thrown 5 turf winners and 3 of them have run numbers to wreck this field.

Good luck and someone remember TGJB\'s wake up call please.

Frank

In the 6th you might want to take a 2nd look at #9 Candy Feat, trained by the turf loving James Toner.  Candy Feat is a 1/2 to MASSEUSE (f. by Dynaformer),(Total earnings $439,652) a (G2) winner and winner of the VA Oaks (8.5T), Also 1/2 to (G3) BUFF (g. by Pleasant Tap). 8 wins, 2 to 5, $646,468, and SECOND PERFORMANCE (c. by Theatrical (IRE)). 2 wins, $109,020 3rd (G3) Lexington S. (10FT).  It\'s probably too early to tell what kind of sire Hard Spun will be but I tend to like this breeding and at anything near 15/1, I think he\'s worth a shot.

Frank - I do believe all the turf sprints are on the Mellon.

For Race 1, Zero Rate Policy.  Results from post one for the Mellon Turf Course

2009 - 1 for 43
2010 - 2 for 45
2011 - 1 for 41

just something to keep in mind.
