Title: Paynter/Belmont
Post by: big18741 on May 21, 2012, 06:23:16 AM
Beyer upgraded the Derby Trial.

Hiero 103,Paynter 100,Stealcase 100.

Gave Paynter a 106 for his allowance win on Saturday.Thought he might be coming into the Belmont a little under the radar with a second at CD and an allowance win beating little at Pimlico.Guess not.

Seems like they wasted a race on Saturday if TG scores similar.

Paynter 3rd fastest 3 yr old two turn race like negative -1.5. Did not beat anything, odds on, but was the only front runner to wire at a route this weekend at Pimlico.

Very impressive.  This colt was  beaten 3/12 Lengths in the SAD in only his second start.   Much to like.  Solid second choice in the Belmont for me.

\"Solid second choice in the Belmont for me\"

Dark,

...think Union Rags solid second choice as of now.

Why would he change the numbers for the Derby Trial? What does Paynter\'s win have to do with how he ran at CD?

I don\'t understand these Beyer numbers, are they even speed figures or is the guy just slapping a number down on the DRF that \'fits\' with what the horse has run in the past?

I bet Paynter in the SAD on his second start... His first race was very impressive and now he is getting better.  Waiting for the Belmont to see him again.

Union rags a toss for me.  Excuses or not, hasn\'t shown that much in his last two, and might be one of those horses to often find trouble.  Also, I learned years ago with Arazi, that the best two year olds aren\'t the best three year olds.

At this writing, it appears Johnny V may be headed Rags\' way.

Not sure if it was changed before or after Paynter ran on Saturday.

Anyone remember Paynters DRF pp\'s from the Saturday allowance?

93 or 100 for his CD race?

Big,

From memory almost certain it was a DRF Beyer 93 for Paynter, slightly faster than TG\'s 4.25 converted.

Know the Beyer gang do lots of flagging and go backs to check on certain figures but this case is not credible, imo. The winner of the Derby Trial, Hierro was adjusted to a Beyer of 103, 2nd place Paynter 100, 3rd place Stealcase like 100. Think they over reacted to Paynters huge forward move on Sat.There is no way to do the Derby Trial day and come up with those Beyers, notwithstanding the wet track.Having said that, make no mistake that Paynter ran a hole in the wind on Sat.

Sometimes there is no logical explanation that reconciles a races figure so creative license takes over.
