Title: NYRA - Belmont Stakes Day Wish List
Post by: Silver Charm on May 21, 2012, 04:39:17 AM
1st and last races of a 14 race card are NY-Breds. Toss one in the middle (good for pick 4\'s). None are maidens and preferrably grass races.

Accommadation publicity begins NOW. Transportation out and back. Food. Beer. Picnic or blanket areas. Mutual clerk recruiting.

Only ONE Politician is allowed to show up in this Election Year and talk about all the great things they are going to do to bring Racing back. ONLY ONE!!!

And I\'m anything but a big drinker on lead race days -- but, hey, guys . . . one way you can move up early on the hit parade this year . . .

DON\'T RUN OUT OF BOOZE.

Helps your handle, too.

This has been a public service announcement.

From The NYRA website.
NOTE: On Belmont Stakes Day, Saturday, June 9, 2012, no alcoholic beverages of any kind will be permitted to be brought into the facility. The restriction regarding alcohol has been enacted in the interest of patron safety and in an attempt to make sure that people drink responsibly.

I don\'t bring alcohol into racetracks.   That said, this policy is a crock.  Talk about discouraging large parties on the lawn behind the grandstand.
Way to go, guys.

....some do get knocked out!

DRF:

Mark Valeski, who won the Peter Pan Stakes on May 12 and has been considered a top contender for the Belmont Stakes on June 9, is now "doubtful" for the final leg of the Triple Crown, trainer Larry Jones said Monday, citing the colt's lack of energy since the Peter Pan.

"Mark's actually doing OK, but he got a little tired after the race," Jones said Monday from Churchill Downs, where Mark Valeski was sent after the Peter Pan. "He doesn't have the same energy level. It's looking like the Belmont is more and more doubtful. He's not showing a lot of sparkle.

"I'm not saying he's 100 percent out. But we may end up bypassing the Belmont and just waiting for the Dwyer."

The Dwyer, at 1 1/16 miles, is June 30.

Jones said he had not worked Mark Valeski since the Peter Pan, and had no plans to do so until he perks up in his training.

"He's acting like he's a little knocked out," Jones said.

I was just thinking about that today.

Here\'s a noval idea - level with the public. Might be good for business......

Post \"Trainer intent\" next to the name of every horse on the program with a letter, something like this:

W- I intend to win this race
P - I\'m running for 2nd money because I can\'t beat the favorite, but I can beat the rest of \'em.
S- I\'m running to get a check, because when this horse leaves this condition, he/she will be overmatched and less likely to make me money.
R - my horse needs this race, I\'m not trying with him today, and don\'t expect he will win. Bet at your own risk.

My primary wish is that I am having a huge celebration in Living Room Downs
as they cross the wire in the Belmont Stakes, every bit as huge as the one I was
having in the New Dorp OTB in 04 when Birdstone got by Smarty, resulting in a
rather large P4 payoff...

My secondary wish would be that all of the races on the undercard are shown live,
either by NBC or TVG. Note to NBC: the casual racing fans you are gearing your
coverage towards are tuning in a few minutes before post time and are missing the
human interest stories and puff pieces. Show the damn races, like you did on
Derby day.

Richie...you underestimate bowling and women\'s gymnastics.come to think of it, if we could bet on women\'s gymnastics, would it be fixed?  And the drug testing could kill the sport...oh, the humanity!

MO,

You may want to include \"J\": Jockey on this horse will not be bothered ride hard to the wire if he/she has no shot at winning...even if it means costing a few pple the tri or super.

So basically you want someone to handicap the race for you.

How about some traffic control so it doesn\'t take 2 hours to get out of there????

So what happens when the trainer thinks his horse needs the race and it DOES \'need\' the race and wins anyway? Horses who are 80% win all the time, maybe they win by 1 length instead of 10.

Will disgruntled fans toss garbage cans thru windows if a trainer says in the PGM \"i need the race\" and the horse wins?

That will look like he lied about his horses chances to get a higher price.
