Every single winner of the Triple Crown was based or had at least raced ON DIRT in New York prior to the Kentucky Derby.

Union Rags
Trinniberg
Alpha
Hansen
Gemologist
El Padrino
Done talking
I\'ll Have Another

FWIW: Sunday Silence was not allowed (By NYRA) to work over the Belmont strip upon arriving from Pimlico. Many in his camp believe it had something to do with him not winning the TC. I was employed by NYRA at the time and got this info first hand from reliable sources.......after the fact and after I\'d already gotten my program signed by PVal.......................

Also, countless others that were based in New York...Dullahan being one.
