Title: Post Postions-The Seminar Please!!
Post by: Silver Charm on October 22, 2003, 12:47:01 PM

Halfbridled in the 14 hole and listed as 7/5 favorite.

Cuvee in the 12 hole and listed as 8/5 favorite.

Perfect Drift/Medaglia/Congaree/Ten Most Wanted in the 7/8/9/10 holes.

Wonder what TGJB thinks??

What\'s to think?

There are 8 horses a 1/4pt slower, as fast or faster than the 7/5 Halfbridled and she\'s going out of the 14 hole, my goodness. It doesn\'t get any better than that.

Cuvee has run the two best 2yo figs ever, back to back -0.5\'s. He ships cross country, tries two turns for the first time and has the 14 hole, what more can you ask? Granted the competition isn\'t as sharp, but ya never know. If someone [or two, lol] can run early with him to keep him wide, it\'s very possible.

Funny Cide will be on the engine and force Conga and MdO wide, stalkers might be raosted by hot pace and maybe Dynever picks up all the marbles.

I respect all opinions regardless if I agree with them or not. I certainly like your idea of how the Classic may set up. HOWEVER, why all the fuss on these posts with DYNEVER. I\'m still waiting for him to win a race of any consequence and am still waiting for him to beat a horse of the quality of a PERFECT DRIFT or MEDAGLIA D\'ORO. What am I missing with this colt??

PS: 7-5 on HALFBRIDLED from the #14; 8-5 on CUVEE from the #12---is Mike Battaglia making the BC morning line????

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Fans beware this is from a player who touted Volponi a couple of weeks out last year.

I know Battaglia was touting Cuvee on the infamous CNBC broadcast 2 weeks ago. If he did set that morning line then he needs to pick up all HIS marbles.

Nothing. He\'s an improving 3 YO that was very overrated relative to his figures in the spring. However, he isn\'t that far off  the best 3YOs in the division now. Given that the best 3YOs tend to improve throughout the season, either he or TMW could move past the older horses Saturday - especially with a decent trip relative to them. TMW is likely to get bet. Dynever might go off at 20-1 because he hasn\'t beaten anyone yet and he lost in the \"slow paced\" Med Cup. Up in the 20-1 range, I will certainly make an \"action\" wager despite the fact that I generally don\'t go down that far in my list of contenders for a bet.

What I do is see what fig will be needed to win a race. i.e. in the Sprint and Classic you\'ll need to crash at least a -2 to have a shot this year.

Next I evaluate those that have run the needed fig. Might they be over the top (possible for PD, Volp, Conga), can they repeat it? (MdO, TMW and EA) Does anyone else have a chance to run a new top thats close/ (Dyn, Funny, Hold That). Might someone bounce (PD, Dyn, Hold That) The analysis isn\'t always correct, but you take an educated guess.

Dynever has a best of -1.75, has been an improving 3yo, gets a 5 pound break in the weights worth a point. If Nakatani works out a reasonable trip, its not inconceivable for Dynever to win. You are rewarded with the odds on him, at 20-1. Does he have a 5% chance to win or hit the board? You betcha he does!

Will it happen? Probably not, it\'s gambling afterall, LOL. btw take a look at last years race, it\'s in the archives, you\'ll see Volponi wasn\'t impossible by any means.

Good luck to all Saturday!

Who can forget the Volponi post from last year. I\'ll put at least $2 bucks on Dynever for that alone.

Me too -- I\'d even pay, oh, $25 to find out. Been willing to do so for several hours.
