Post by: stellastar31 on April 28, 2012, 03:58:04 PM
jerry,as a novice sheet player in training ,i enjoy everyday reading the comments of everyone who posts,i read there expertise in the everyday world of sheet numbers ,though i dont post to often i believe the last time i posted was when ernie paragallo portrayed himself as someone else on this website,i personally take offense when someone who i never heard before today on this thread ,starts to ridicule someone who posts dailey with there insight of owning and racing thorobreds and can share there knowledge with us......Mr.DONUT YOUVE POSTED NOTHING BUT JEALOUSY TOWARDS SOMEONE WHO IS SUCCESSFUL IN THERE PERSONAL LIFE,IF YOU HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY THIS IS NOT THE FORUM FOR SUCH NONSENSE,THOUGH I DONT KNOW MR.COVELLO I ENJOY HIS INSIGHT AND KNOWLEDGE ,IF YOU DONT ,YOU HAVE TO READ AND TAKE YOUR NONSENSE SOMEWARE ELSE,

What\'s nonsense is covello discrediting great trainers that are deserving of running their horse in the derby. Then making accusations that are so far from the truth. Who is covello to suggest that Kiran should \"do the right thing\" and scratch alpha. The horse just worked on .59 yesterday. He is the leading voice of this board?? Are you kidding me?

I buy plenty of sheets. I have just as much right to my opinion as anyone else.

Covello gets lucky getting a 40-1 slow rat to win at Keenland and the dumbo\'s from Japan buy her - So he must be a genius - right?

Donut,
You buy plenty of sheets, I buy sheets too, but Mr.Covello and people like him buy horses and keep the game alive.  If they stop buying and racing horses, there are no sheets to buy or races to watch or bet on.  Then there\'s no game for racing fans. That\'s why Mr. Covello is well respected on this board, because he is playing his part to keep the game viable for the rest of us.  Also, because he has access to people and places that I can only dream of, I look forward to reading what he has to say.  If you don\'t want to read his posts, don\'t open them.

The anti Covel posts doing nothing to advance the dialogue on the handicapping
tourist trap known as the Ky Derby.

JB is a dedicated proponent of free speech on this board, and I think attacking
the thoughts, theories and opinions of others vigorously has always been a
part of the back and forth here.

To attack a poster on a personal basis is another matter, and is made more
egregious when the attacker is not advancing any thoughts of his own.

So Donut, any thoughts on the Derby other than the fact that you do not agree
with anything Covel says? High Roller, anything to add other than your disgust
(envy) over what can only be viewed as the nice score Covel made for himself
and his partners with his Ashland winner?

What I was trying to point out - is that people on the board think because someone is an \"insider\" that their \"opinion\" is somehow superior - It isn\'t.

I have bought horses too. I have put a lot of money in this game and have spent plenty of time in the places that only some can dream of. His reports were completely out of line. As a horsemen, you don\'t discredit your own. It\'s code in this game. He went on this board and talked about \"the bad ride\" Edgar gave him on Saturday as well. Also, is he qualified enough to call for a scratch of a Kiran horse? Is union a steam horse because Covello got 10 phone calls after he worked? Last thing, if your going to tout a horse and give off the impression of being ultra sharp don\'t back off of it and say \"who knows I could be wrong and rip up all my tickets\". Do your work make your prediction and stand by it. Handicap with conviction!

That\'s enough. Express your own opinion, if you disagree with someone else\'s say why, but no more ad hominem stuff. Not kidding.

The opinions of people on this board are judged by the record of the person offering it, both on the racetrack and on this board. Pretty sure everyone here can make their own judgements, as you\'ve probably noticed it\'s a pretty high level crowd. Also haven\'t seen any claims by Jim that his opinions are to be weighed more than others\'.

As much as I want to respond in some snarky way, there is another way to deal with this ... When DONUT posts, dont read it ... Lets see a BIG FAT ZERO next to anything he writes !! That will end this. For my part, I apologize for taking the bait. I read this board regularly, and post every now and again. I know, actually we all know, who\'s opinion is worth reading. Jim usually has something to say worth paying attention to. This crap almost wants me to hear what Chuckles the Clown would have to say. Enough. This is the week we all look forward to, no? Yes, make your picks and shout them for all to hear. And we all know how the race with the \"cant be beat\" favorite turns out when he is carrying my $$$ on his back ... That said ... I am of the opinion that all the horse who ran in the BC Juv will give a good acount of themselves Saturday. Except Dullahan. Dead rail or not he hugged the wood (the rail not the bar) the whole way around. There you have it folks !!

Totally true! All because you buy horses dosen\'t make you an insider. There is plenty of guys that buy horses that think their inside and get raped by trainers and partnerships. Not saying that trainers, partnerships or bloodstock agents are all bad but if you are the tad bit green in this biz you can get rocked very easily. So with that all because you got the big dough don\'t make you the \"sharp insider\".
