Title: Alpha
Post by: covelj70 on April 23, 2012, 01:14:49 PM
At this point, I would be shocked if Alpha makes it to the starting gate.

The horse just walked the shedrow today after a gallop yesterday.

That\'s not how a top horseman like Kirian brings a horse into the Derby.  He always does right by the horse and this horse clearly isn\'t ready to run in this race.

He would be coming into this off of 1 work in 4 weeks and not even going to the track everyday.

Of course I could be reading this wrong but I believe that Kirian will do the right thing and they will declare out of this before too long.

Was it Alpha who had the foot infection?

Yes, he had a infection in his leg/foot from the cuts he sustained in the Wood and was being given antibiotics according to his connections.

As MJ and others pointed out, antibiotics this close to the race is never a good thing but if he still isn\'t going to the track everyday less than 2 weeks from the race and he wasn\'t able to breeze this weekend, he is not likely to run in my opinion.
