If Covelli is right about Alpha (see his post) it\'s pretty clear that Dominguez was told he was without a mount...he may have lucked on to a far better horse.  If the sprinter runs as they said he would, I would think twice about trading places with Dominguez.

just to spur some discussion, if you had to pick one horse that had to be in the money, what would your pick be and why? I know it\'s way too early and post pos have not been drawn, but who appears to be the most solid play at this stage? my pick right now will be CC. He ran a top in his 2nd last race on 3/10, and many derby wnrs in the last 20 yrs ran a top in their 2nd last race. he has plenty of foundation, and ran well at CD last year. but what I like most is his gameness in the lane. only neg is this stupid experiment with the blinkers. any thoughts?

Since you asked about hitting the board & not the win, since picking the winner looks very tough with only one shot, I\'d say Gemologist, who is 5 for 5 including 2 wins at Churchill Downs. I also don\'t mind having Castellano, who I would take over just about any other jockey in this race.

Agree. Gemologist has the best line. Union Rags isn\'t much worse especially if you allow for a bad trip in his last.
