For what it\'s worth he is 0-110 in graded stakes dating back to 2009.
Amazing how guys forget how to train when they have slow horses.
Amazing stat. Has to be more to it than old age.
Doesn\'t get to select his own stock any more at auction. Lucas has a particular type (conformation) of horse he liked and did very well with. He had quite an eye for a horse, the type of horse he meshed well with. He also used to have unlimited auction purchasing funds from his owners.
Lukie is a notorious overclassifier. He\'s also a dance every dance kinda guy. I\'d love to know how many of those 0 for 110 horses were 20-1 or higher.
I absolutely shake my head when I see any horse trained by Lukas anymore. Why he still gets horses is beyond my comprehension. He cares only about the spotlight. He ruins good horses by putting them in races they have no business being in just becuase he wants to be on TV.
The numbers speak for themselves. He is still a good decent man who has put his life in the game. Kick him or put him down. do what ever makes you feel better.
Agreed...he will show up with the acorn again...then watch out.
Lukas still buys at auction and in recent years has been quite well funded, including by the Mack/Baker partnership.
Hopefully he will get Optimizer off the Triple Crown trail and back on the turf
soon...

Not kicking him just making a statement based on the observation that he will force a horse in races just because he wants airtime and not necessarily because the horse is ready for that race. Let\'s see if good old D\'Wayne doesn\'t try to squeeze optimizer one more time to get him in the derby with earnings..Guaranteed he will be in one of those triple crown races with him...

WOW, I would sure hate to be kicked.
BTW he was the Leading Trainer at the Oaklawn Meet last year and was second in the Apple Blossom on Friday and third in the Count Fleet on Saturday. Both Graded Stakes. The 0-fer speaks for itself.
Optimizer probably needs a grass race as someone correctly pointed out, then yes he will probably turn up in the Belmont.
Perhaps we should take a Poll here and only allow those horses to show up that we think can win. Fields of 5 always make for great betting races......
I like Wayne, but if that horse shows up in the Belmont, shame on me....for constantly sticking up for him.
If you believe in karma, you could point to his firing of Dublin\'s jock(Theriot)
after a G1 victory in the 2009 Hopeful. Needing a NY rider was the only reason Lukas offered. The drought started there.
