Title: Thoro-Quick-Simply the Best
Post by: Silver Charm on September 29, 2003, 11:01:17 AM

On Saturday, with Mineshaft absolutely unbettable I was scrambling for something to finish off what had been an up and down day(Mostly up).

I grabbed my Thoro-Quick and began searching for something playable and low and behold  there was something almost to good to be true. In the 8th race at Arlington a 1X for Illinois-breds on grass the #1 horse trained by Noel Hickey had FOUR CAREER STARTS ON GRASS all faster than #4 horse, who was favored, had ever run.

The 1 had speed, the rail, the figures and a good price--7/2. What else can you ask for?

This is a classic example of why you need a copy of Thoro-Quick to accompany your primary track Thorograph figs.

Unless of course the $4.80 double of Sulamani/Mineshaft is up your alley.

Silver Charm--

I agree. I also had the horse you are speaking of and was quite suprised that the 4 was the favorite.

As for other plays at that time of day---how about the MINESHAFT-QUEST exacta for $18 and change. All you had to do was eliminate the fake Dubai horse, STATE SHINTO (he should be running in 1 1/4 allowance races on grass), and EVENING ATTIRE who you knew would have zero pace to close into. Besides, QUEST was coming into the JCGC off of a number that clearly indicated that Zito had finally found the trick with this promising horse.

Your smarter than I am. As soon as I see unbeatable 1-9 I usually start looking elsewhere.

Besides the 1 and 10 (who was co-second choice) exacta at AP paid $51.00 and the 1-10-4 (favorite) triple paid $171.00.

Much more in line of what I was looking for at the time.
